Oh Goats cheese! I love it! I love a nice green leafy salad with vinagrette and generous helpings of goats cheese.

As for the camels, I have probably eaten some. I was told, that after travelling around Egypt that everything was Chicken, even goats and camels... Not sure how true that, but I did think that the chicken often tasted a little strange.

pooka · 29/05/2007 14:36

goat's cheese is bogging. Vile.
Tastes of the smell of goat. Bleurgh.

TootyFrooty · 29/05/2007 14:40

I'm afraid I have to disagree contnetiouscat. By the way, which loo cleaner do you use? Might be cheaper than my gin!

Bink · 29/05/2007 14:40

There are two totally different goat cheese experiences, though - not sure that's been noted?

  1. Fresh curd cheese - the one that's like cream cheese. You get it in pots for spreading or in little logs rolled in herbs or charcoal ashes etc. Not very demanding, little bit sharp, fantastic with grilled pita bread and garlic roasted into melting buttery lumps and sundried tomatoes.

  2. Matured - the kind with a rind, firm with a shiny surface (this is the kind that restaurants melt on to their veggie option). Much more pungent, & indeed potentially objectionable.

If you don't like version 2, have a try of version 1.

bloody lovely, esp with honey and thyme dressing, with pine nuts and caramelised onions. [starving emoticon]

Otter · 29/05/2007 20:17

NikkiBFG · 29/05/2007 20:23

Noooo!!! Its fab!!!

mawbroon · 29/05/2007 20:46

I vote for the goat.

Love goats cheese, in fact this thread has seriously made me think about nipping out to Tesco to get some....

shoegal13 · 29/05/2007 21:00

i used to love feta cheese before i realised it is made from either goat or sheeps milk. now i just can't! goats are so naturally smelly & why would we take milk from a ewe isn't that meant for its own young? its not like they have udders like a cow which means free for all obviously...

pointydog · 29/05/2007 21:03

?

pointydog · 29/05/2007 21:04

I cannot believe the narrow-minded attitude to goats and their cheese on this thread.

Desiderata · 29/05/2007 21:05

MamaG, I could not agree more. It is like scraping the contents of a builder's arse and armpit (at the end of a long day), and putting it into a moist bag.

Lizzer · 29/05/2007 21:17

shoegal, they don't steal it off the little lambs to make cheese for us!! www.sheepdairying.com/breeds.htm

I want a some Chevre now! Why oh why did I come on this thread....Lizzer drools off......

LoveAngel · 29/05/2007 21:18
