becuase this woman does here and they are a tad more impressive than the shrivelled wrap I found in the freezer and shoved in ds's pack up today
click on the pictures and there is an explanation.

no pictures of lunchables though!

She's a vegan, though, so the sushi wouldn't have real fish in it.

welliemum · 14/05/2007 09:38

Ha! So maybe she makes them in batches and freezes them by the hundred!

[hopeful]

FrannyandZooey · 14/05/2007 09:39

I have never seen the same thing twice in her lunchboxes

Cappuccino · 14/05/2007 09:40

lololol at this lunchbox envy

bet everyone has spent far more time looking at this stuff than packing their own child's lunch

certainly I am assured that dd1 and dd2s lunch will have far more of an impact on the environment than on their stomachs

but if I had slaved all night making fresh bleeding sushi for them to send home uneaten and smeared with yogurt then I would really have to put my head in the oven

expatinscotland · 14/05/2007 09:42

'but do the children eat the lunces? that is the question i need answering or do rthey come home with one bite taken out of them like ds1's lunch practically every day? '

JenniferSchmoo lives in a very hippy area and her child goes to a Steiner-type school.

Apparently - one of my good pals is a native of the area - it started as a sort of competition amongst the alpha mums to outdo each other in the poncey lunch sweepstakes.

I think Jennifer won by a mile, though .

Cappuccino · 14/05/2007 09:43

oh so it doesn't matter if they eat it then?

it's like, art?

expatinscotland · 14/05/2007 09:45

I think they actually eat it, tbh.

Trust me, I lived in Boulder, Colorado for years, a place where 6-year-old discuss things like how food can enhance athletic performance and a smoking ban that forbids people to even smoke on public streets has been in force for years.

LieselVentouse · 14/05/2007 10:14

Be honest, would you guys eat that?

frogs · 14/05/2007 10:17

Blimey, some people need to get out more...

Flumpybumpy · 14/05/2007 10:20

Er........why??????

Some people have far too much time on their hands.......

LieselVentouse · 14/05/2007 10:21

But then if I made up packed lunches like that Id certainly be taking photos of them and posting them on here every day for you all to be

haggisaggis · 14/05/2007 10:43

Did you see teh St. Patrick's day lunch where she coloured the peanut butter with pureed peas!! My kids eat most things but don't think they'd touch that!

alibubbles · 14/05/2007 10:50

F&Z I got my Bento boxes at Oriental City, they were about a fiver each. The cloths came for the pound shop at the same place, also childsize chopsticks in little storage boxes

fibernie · 14/05/2007 11:31

Yum.... (rembembering fondly all the bento boxes I ate when I went to Japan).
They really are lovely - apart from the odd one with unidentifiable sweet bean paste stuff inside.
Mine was so good one day, I was sitting eating it when a huge bird of prey swooped down between me and DH and stole it! A crowd of Japanese people jumped up in shock then kindly offered me some of their own lunch!
Went a bit off topic there, but it reminded me of the story!

Chelseamum · 14/05/2007 11:33

I am craving a lovely japanese meal.

sashimi, nori, fish, fish and more fish and the lovely green beens and a lovely glass of cold sake!

robinpud · 14/05/2007 11:40

What about an alternative site with pictures of fruit shoots, chocolate straws and lunchables so that no matter how crap the lunch you gave your child, you would know that someone else's was worse?
Could I get a bookdeal and speaking engagements do you think??

NappiesGalore · 14/05/2007 11:45

man, i really want a bento box now. sod all chance of that out here in the MiddleOfNowhere. poo.

MrsBadger · 14/05/2007 11:47

nappies, get on ebay

or try a tiffin box - same principle, not quite as cute, but cheaper

MrsBadger · 14/05/2007 11:47

(was assuming you meant one to pack lunches in - if you wanted an actual tasty meal ebay probably isn't the place...)

Kathyis6incheshigh · 14/05/2007 11:50

Must be a Japanese thing to take photos of food.... my Japanese SIL has a blog on Flickr with pictures of meals she's eaten too, which really freaked my mum out when she came to stay and got out her digital camera every mealtime.

Hulababy · 14/05/2007 11:54

Do you think she'd do my packed lunch for me for work?

LieselVentouse · 14/05/2007 12:11
