Weird Sandwich Filling Combos

Ok I know there must be some that sound disgusting, but taste rather nice. My favourites are firstly toasted cheese and green chilli, secondly pate & tomato sauce. My dad likes jam and halved grapes.

Anyone willing to share their unsual sarnie fillings then?

Not unusual just my favourite, philadelphia, green peppers and olive oil

DelGirl · 15/07/2004 14:53

pate & tomato sauce, yeukkk! I used to like peanut butter & salad cream. Wouldn't dream of having it now but I used to like it!

CountessDracula · 15/07/2004 14:53

Tissy · 15/07/2004 14:55

Metrobaby · 15/07/2004 15:02

Buttered bread with demerara sugar (Open though - not a sandwich). YUMMMM!

sooz31 · 15/07/2004 15:14

not sure it's all that unusual, but I love the french sarnie pate with cornichons in a lovely fresh baguette... am pg so missing pate a lot. (pate looks funny without the accent on the e doesn't it)!

Also, crunchy peanut butter with tomato is lovely.

Hulababy · 15/07/2004 15:16

Twiglett - my great grandma used to give me and my brother sugar sandwiches as children. Sounds horrid and can't remember if it was or not. I can't believe that a have never needed a filling after eating stuf like that!

DH is disgusted with me as I like plain tomato ketchup sandwiches!!!

angelpoppet · 15/07/2004 15:24

Not a sandwich - but on the sugar idea.....
me and a friend used to make up cake mixture and then put it in ice cream cones!! YYUUUMMMMYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(not something I'd let MY dd do though of course)

Kayleigh · 15/07/2004 15:24

twiglett, I do the jam and cheese thing on toast and sandwiches too, also my brother and I used to make honey and strong cheddar. Haven't had the last one for years and years. Mmmmmmmmmmmm.

Metrobaby · 15/07/2004 15:39

A friend of mine used to love eating weetabix with jam on top. I could never bring myself to even try it.

CountessDracula · 15/07/2004 15:44

Oh I love weetabix with butter and jam. Slurp

busybee123 · 15/07/2004 15:45

peanut butter and banana sandwhiches.........yummy!!!!

cat82 · 15/07/2004 15:51

Ohhh CD, i thought i was the only person in the world who has weetabix like that!!

motherinferior · 15/07/2004 15:55

My Indian mother introduced us young to the joys of peanut butter and hot mango/lime pickle. On toast. Oh, delish (and an ace hangover cure).

Toasted cheese and green chilli sounds very very lovely too.

bundle · 15/07/2004 15:56

cold mashed potato with salad cream; philly & marmite (nice n thick); cheshire cheese and raspberry jam; tuna, mayo, jalapeno chillis and cheese - toasted, yum!

colinsmommy · 15/07/2004 15:57

I love spaghetti sandwiches with potato chips.

motherinferior · 15/07/2004 15:58

Mash as yer actual FILLING?

The jalapeno chilli one sounds great.

My uncle used to love poached eggs with chocolate sauce, but not in a sandwich as far as I know. Perfectly feasible, of course, and more suitable for picnics.

Kayleigh · 15/07/2004 16:04

Would I be right in assumimg that cold mashed potato with salad cream just tastes like potato salad ?

lydialemon · 15/07/2004 16:10

peanut butter and lemon curd, yum! Nothing wrong with cheese and jam toasties either, although I prefer cheese and mango chutney.

We used to have sugar sandwiches too, AND condensed milk sandwiches (blame lenny henry for that one though)

Best late night PMT/bad day snack? banana, butter and brown sugar sandwich, microwaved.....

and why exactly am I still a size 18????

ebbie22 · 15/07/2004 16:12

cheese spread and marmite

Easy · 15/07/2004 16:14

Peanut butter and marmite
OR
cheese and onion crisps in a sandwich
Or
sliced turkey with hollandaise sauce

sis · 15/07/2004 16:23

Easy, people give me funny looks when I have cheese and onion crisps sandwich - but sometimes, that is the only thing that will fill the gaping hole in my tum!
