After work quick tea, wolfed down by the DC!

Cooked some pasta
Chopped up a couple of tomatoes and a ball of mozzarella
Fried up a box of lardons
Mixed the pasta, mozzarella, toms and lardons together. Added a few black olives, a couple of abel spoons of philly and a blob of pesto
Stuk it in a dish
Cover in grated cheddar
Grilled it

I thought I'd made enough for DH's tea too, but there's hardly any left. This never happens! They both ate it all up, even DS who "doesn't like tomatoes".

I called it "Pizza Pasta" because its all the stuff you'd usually get on a pizza, but in pasta.

They are eating as we speak

Couple of differences. No pesto or olives with mine.

Instead I've put in a pepper but to get Dd eating tomatoes or peppers is amazing!

She seems to be really liking it

Ds is a bit baffled by it but he's slowly munching his way through

Totally going to try the omloaf!

PLACEMARKING!

PeppaAteMySoul · 01/03/2017 16:54

Just wondered if anyone who has made the omloaf thing can tell me if it looks like stuffing? I really want to try it for DS but he won't eat it if it does.

Also my quick "fish pie". Not healthy but very tasty
Can of tuna with packet parsley sauce made up and put on top. Topped with cheesy smash and microwaved until hot.

Soubriquet · 01/03/2017 17:19

Jellyfish hotdogs

One my dc enjoy eating. Not the healthiest but fun to do

Tinned hotdogs chopped up into chunky slices

Dried snapped in half

Get 4-5 strands on spagetthi and thread it through the hot dog slice up to the middle

Cook them until the spaghetti is cooked

Add a couple of spoons of butter (I leave this bit out) and some cheese serve.

The hot dogs look like little wiggly jellyfish

Just made super quick and easy tuna pasta
5 min pasta
Stir through tub of tuna mayo sandwich filling (minus a bit used for sandwiches)
Grated cheese on top
And ta dah!!! Was asked for seconds so must be a hit

Millipedewithherfeetup · 01/03/2017 18:52

Peppa, yes, made the omloaf ! It was nice !, i had 2 eggs ans put 1 and a half tablespoons of paxo in, did not taste like stuffing at all, obviously had a hint of sage, but was not overpowering ! Give it a go, i will def make again.

Thanks Millipede made it for lunch today. DS said it was "yum". I enjoyed it too so will definitely have again!

My version of corned beef hash always goes down well here,
Fry a large onion, in a casserole dish layer onion, corned beef, baked beans and grated cheese - I normally do 2 layers of each. ( I use a tin of corned beef cut into squares). Then top with mash potato so it looks like a cottage pie. Pop in the oven, serve with fried egg and frozen peas. Delicious.
I always cook mine for about 45 mins as I like the top crispy but as everything is already cooked you could possibly microwave or just reduce the cooking time so it's heated through.

Jetcatblackcat · 05/03/2017 17:42

Just another who says they love this thread!

I struggle with cooking for various reasons, but we had pizza chicken just now and my daughters wolfed it down Grin

Greycat11 · 06/03/2017 12:45

Placemarking to read in full later but in case it hasn't been mentioned, pitta bread pizza

Top with tomato or pesto sauce
Sliced up mozzarella ball or any grated cheese on top
Then add any topping and place under the grill
Sliced ham, mushrooms and olives go down well here.

I made the omloaf! I used four eggs, two dessertspoonfuls of gluten free sage and onion stuffing, and cooked the mixture in a giant muffin tin in the oven. Next time I'm going to add spring onions in the bottom of each muffin, and grated cheese on the top...

GurneyGob · 09/03/2017 11:02

I came across this other unusual but quick way to use stuffing mix:

Since the Omloaf is proving so popular

bookworm14 · 10/03/2017 19:50

Reviving this thread to share this brilliant recipe from BBC Good Food, which takes minutes to make. DD wolfed them down and demanded 'more fishy'! Any mild-ish curry paste would work, I think; I used korma as we didn't have any Thai red.

Have just had pointythings vegetarian curry from upthread - absolutely delicious and so easy and nutritious.

Added a little water at the end as it was a little too thick.

Made a batch, and have frozen the rest.

Already looking forward to it ....

ClarenceOddbody · 12/03/2017 23:10

Love this thread!! Some brilliant ideas. I make ravioli lasagne. Two packs of fresh ravioli/tortellini, eg cheese & pancetta or spinach and ricotta. Mix together with a tomato pasta sauce (or make own with tin of toms etc). Put some blobs of mozzarella on top and bake for 20 mins - that's it. We usually have with a big salad and some garlic bread. Dead quick and tasty. You don't have to cook the pasta beforehand, just mix it straight in with the sauce and it all cooks through in the oven.

ClarenceOddbody · 12/03/2017 23:13

Oh loinnir sorry i just saw you posted a Ravioli lasagne recipe as well!! I love it - can't believe i only discovered it recently!

ginghamstarfish · 12/03/2017 23:43

Great thread! 'cheese plate' reminds me of a meal we had weekly when i was a kid. Mum would fry sausages and bacon, then keep those warm and in the same pan crumble Lancashire cheese and add milk till it was melty and hot. Served with bacon sausage and fresh bread to mop it up ... I must confess I sometimes crave this now although DH frowns on it as unhealthy ..

sarahmags · 07/04/2017 07:33

Nong we had your pancetta pasta last night - genius!

My Dd (3) kept saying "mmmm mummy this is delicious, thank you mummy" all the way through eating!

Thanks for the idea!
