can we have a thread where we recommend recipes that we often re-visit?

You don't have to go to the trouble of copying and pasting or describing it all, but just recommend the recipe and the book and why it works for you/your family? Everyone else can google the links.

As an example, for me it would be the minestrone from Nigella's How To Eat. I've made it so often now that I don't really need to look at the book, but I love it because it is quirky (no garlic, no tomatoes - both of which I love but this recipe just totally works without either) and one way to get the children to eat dark greens. And also because it is lush and keeps well and can be a lunch for friends, or a proper main course dinner for family.

I want to expand my repertoire of fail-safe day to day stuff like this! Anyone want to contribute?

Jamie Oliver's incredibly annoyingly named but delicious ]]www.jamieoliver.com/recipes/pasta-recipes/proper-blokes-sausage-fusilli/ Real Blokes Sausage pasta]]

The Guardian's 'How to make the perfect' Sag Paneer although it comes out different every time

The incredibly annoying Gordon Ramsay's Sweet Potato Frittata with Tomato Salsa. Healthy too.

Nigella's Rapid Ragu from Nigella Express
The Bengali fish curry from Madhur Jaffrey's Curry Easy (the dahl recipes in there are fab too)

Thanks for starting this thread - so many lovely ideas on here!

CaptainWarbeck · 28/01/2016 10:59

Yum - have already saved the palak paneer and satay sauce recipes from this thread.

HFW's 'spouffle' from Veg Everyday gets eaten a lot here with courgettes instead of spinach. It's got penne in so very filling and is bloody delicious. The cheesy sauce is really good as infused with nice stuff.

The coriander sauce from JO's chicken skewers and noodle salad mentioned up thread gets used by us on a near weekly basis for stir fries with rice or noodles. Sometimes we make a big batch of it and freeze it.

Nigella's ham in coke. Cherry or normal (have tried lemon spiked and didn't like www.nigella.com/recipes/view/ham-in-coca-cola-171

served with potato gratin www.nigella.com/recipes/view/creamy-potato-gratin-2567

The quickest easiest lemon pudding ever (only 3 ingredients excluding mint leaf garnish which I would never bother with)

I have been making a version of that JO pasta with a finely sliced leek added, makes me feel more healthy. deluded-

Another couple of Nigella's I've been making for years.

A lovely thick and aromatic lamb shank dish www.nigella.com/recipes/view/aromatic-lamb-shank-stew-167

A light chicken dish www.nigella.com/recipes/view/spring-chicken

Thanks to all. Marking place

What a great thread. I also came on to suggest it gets moved somewhere but, if we're not going to do that, the suggestion of adding them to pinterest is v sensible. I wouldn't have thought if that despite having a food board for just this sort of thing

BoboChic · 28/01/2016 12:32

Absolute mainstays of my family meals repertoire are Anna Del Conte's ragù and osso bucco, and River Café's boiled tomato sauce. I also have a failsafe spaghetti alle vongole and chicken with morels but both recipes were developed in-house :)

IDismyname · 28/01/2016 12:42

Invaluable as a stand by - freezes well, but would last a week in a tin anyway
Mary Berry Brownie Recipe

My savoury repertoire usually works along the lines of Ready Steady Cook. Stuff comes out of the fridge, onto the worktop, and I figure it out from there...

I am a fan of Nigella, Mary B and Nigel.

However, I'm going to give Jools Pregnant Pasta a go - seems like she has more of a following than her husband!

DameDancealot · 28/01/2016 13:23

Chocolate and Raspberry brownies from "scottish kitchen" by Sue lawrence and from the same book her steak and olive pie. the brownies are delicious with vanilla I've cream, just drooling now thinking of it

LabourOfLife · 28/01/2016 13:24

Nigella Lawson cheesy chilli

mayhew · 28/01/2016 13:49

Lovely lidl pie (all ingredients from there)
Turkey steaks in bite size pieces
Lardons
Mushrooms. Sauté together till cooked. Sprinkle dried tarragon and black pepper liberally over it all.
Make 300ml thick white sauce. Combine.
Put in deep pie dish.
Cover with pastry sheet.
Bake for 30 mins at 200.
Serve with veg. Absolutely lovely.

I use Evernote to save recipes (great as I can access them from anywhere and on pc. mac, phone or ipad etc) and I've put lots of these on there.

Is there a MN Recipe folder on Pinterest?

Yet another vote for JO's Pregnant Jools' Pasta Grin

Also JO's minestrone from one of his original Naked Chef books.
Citrus braised lamb shanks from River Cottage Meat.
Nigel Slater's marsala onion gravy is lush.
Nigella's ham cooked in cider and also the beef casserole with anchovies and thyme - both from How to Eat.
Roasted aubergine and chickpea salad - old Nigel Slater recipe from the Guardian. (google "fingers on the pulses" - it's not easy to find!)

This isn't really an old one but BBC Good Food lamb tagine with butternut squash and dried apricots - real family favourite here.

Great thread Smile

LikeASoulWithoutAMind · 28/01/2016 14:22

Ooh I forgot - Nigella's veggie chilli is fantastic.

CrystalMcPistol · 28/01/2016 14:28

Jamie Oliver's Jool's Pregnat Pasta and Proper Bloke's Pasta are the same thing. And both have a stupid name!

Most delicious though.

SanityClause · 28/01/2016 14:33

HFW had a recipe called something like refried bean foldovers in his Vegetable book.

I make it a lot, but if I can't be bothered to make flatbreads, I serve it with taco shells, instead.

It's easy, healthy, and fun to eat.

SchnitzelVonKrumm · 28/01/2016 15:24

Simon Hopkinson's roast chicken and roast lamb. The River Cafe's roast pork with garlic and fennel.

NoTimeLikeSnowTime · 28/01/2016 15:27

They're not quite the same Most. Both have sausage and fennel, but the Jools one has tomato and balsamic, and extra veg, the 'blokes' one has white wine, lemon and oregano.

NoTimeLikeSnowTime · 28/01/2016 15:27

Sorry, ^ that's to Crystal, not most!

tellmelies · 28/01/2016 15:57

Ah, found it! I've been looking for this thread.
