I've recently turned vegetarian, but am struggling to think of lunch ideas other than cheese/egg!!
Can any more inventive mumsnetters help a new veggie and share their tastiest sandwich ideas?? Thanks in advance! Smile

Belmo, I don't really know what tahini is but it sounds really exotic!! Is it best on white bread?

Some great ideas on here, shall put them to good use! Thanks everyone :)

There is a tofu product by Taifun - Basil Tofu. Sounds bleurghh, I only bought some because of the rave reviews on Ocado. But it is lovely, would be great in a crusty roll with some salad. It is quite firm in texture and has loads of flavour. Believe me, I never would have thought that basil and tofu would work, but they do! :)

It's a sesame paste (nicer than it sounds!) and yes def on white bread!

Yes to basil and tofu. Loads of Thai meals pair them together. My favourite stir fry is garlic, chilli and ginger then tofu, mixed veg and noodles with lemon juice, soy sauce and fresh basil chucked in at the end. Delicious!

Came across banh mi for the first time today - basically a Vietnamese baguette: ohdeardrea.blogspot.co.uk/2013/05/an-easy-delicious-vegan-bahn-mi-chay.html?m=1

Good for you OP Smile

I like halloumi fried in butter and olives and a bit of basil, but obvs it's a bit time consuming just for a sandwich! Not the cheapest either...or the healthiest. But very very yummy.

Or brown sugar sandwiches Grin

Huevos, I love basil so that sounds wonderful!! Will have a look for it!

Thanks quirrel Smile It's early days in the vegetarianism but I'm really happy I've done it, and I just FEEL better! I'm intrigued by the sugar sandwich - do you butter the bread??
