What's the first thing you're going to make? It's got to be coffee cake hasn't it?

I have a really strange one- think it was called Anthracite. I'm thinking about selling it and getting a better colourway.

ChaosTrulyReigns · 14/08/2012 11:46

I haven't named mine - but I do stroke it a lot.

The girls made whoopee pies yesterday, and I habe just had to give it a good clean (which strangely still makes me smile). I do still love it, but the colour is just not as naice. Well more to do with the finish really - its kind of matt textured and a bit bobbly.

Would it be beyond the pale just to upgrade due to colour issues? [gulp]

Wheresmycaffeinedrip · 14/08/2012 11:47

Yep coffee cake and I'm toying with red velvet cupcakes if I can get the right ingredients :) might call it xena given as it reminds me a little of a xenomorph lol :)

OP posts:
GWenlockMaryLacey · 14/08/2012 11:54

Xena. That's a great name :) I even have buttermilk in the fridge in preparation!

It's absolutely understandable and reasonable to upgrade due to colour issues. I liked the Apple cider brown one but decided against as it didn't feel in the spirit of a KA. They hold their value well don't they, so you should only have to put a few shekels towards a new one. What colour would you go for?

bakingaddict · 14/08/2012 11:58

I recently got myself a candy apple kitchen aid 2 weeks ago, even DH was excited when it came and have now mastered brioche, took me 4 attempts to get perfect though. I have made steak puddings, mixing the suet pastry was a doodle in the KA. The next thing I want to make is pistachio macarons

Mine was £399 from a place called Harts of Stur based in Dorset and came with a free set of Jamie Oliver bakeware. It's fully guaranteed, I think JL was charging £449 for the candy apple

Wheresmycaffeinedrip · 14/08/2012 12:02

Snap Gwen:o although I've subbed fir natural soya yogurt due to a dairy intolerant dd :o we think alike though!!!!

GWenlockMaryLacey · 14/08/2012 14:01

Can't, got one hand in a bandage at the moment. Might have grated carrot in Sainsbos? Or I splash out another £60 odd on the grater attachment from Amazon which would arrive tomorrow :o

Aw I'm so jealous. I'm off to the shops soon to make sure I have everything in. If I set it up and find I've no butter I will be inconsolable! Is it very noisy? I do lots of my baking at night.

FriskyMarkCavendish · 14/08/2012 16:37

I have the cobalt blue one and love it. I even let the dc use it this morning to make rainbow cakes :)

Wheresmycaffeinedrip · 14/08/2012 16:40

It's not quiet but shouldn't wake the kids if they asleep :)
