... is gorgeous!! Seriously, the kids were all over it and I have just polished off the left overs dipped in last night's left over curry. Heaven.

Does anyone have the book and are there any other good recipes? Worth buying?

That sounds revolting.
I don't have the book, and will now mark it on my 'to avoid', list!

NettoSuperstar · 14/03/2012 19:36

Actually, that's probably a bit unfair, what is the recipe?
Even if I don't want to try it, DD might.

Auntiestablishment · 14/03/2012 20:05

It does sound revolting. But if it isn't...

They are amazing, I honestly am sad that I didn't eat them slower. MIL made them for the kids - chicken cut into goujons, then I presume dipped in mayo, then covered in crushed up rice crispies. You have to try them... I will try to find recipe online and post.

I love Birdseye chicken quarter pounders in rice crispies, so I am sure to love this!

HowToLookGoodGlaikit · 15/03/2012 18:11

Cant find the recipe online!

sharond101 · 15/03/2012 22:21

I like the sound of these and couldnt find the recipe online either.

torieloo · 16/03/2012 16:10

Hi there, I am Lisa's sister and I can honestly say these are lovely! Everyone makes a weird face when it's suggested but it needs to be tried! Lisa's book is brilliant (although she is my sister so I'm obviously a bit biased!) but it is really reasonable at Tesco and Sainsburys (£& 7 £9) and the recipes are great! In the meantime , enough plugging, you simply coat raw chicken breast (pieces, like nuggets or whole breasts) in mayonnaise, then rice krispies, a bit crushed up with salt and pepper if you want, then cook on baking tray in oven for about 20 mins, depending on size of pieces! Easy!!

candytuft63 · 16/03/2012 16:25

Its a lovely recipe, you can also substitute crushed up plain crisps for crispies.

Gumby · 16/03/2012 16:27

Ooh Lisa 's sister?!

DurhamDurham · 16/03/2012 16:32

Oooh I'd like the recipe with plain crisps Smile

SwedishEdith · 16/03/2012 16:34

I heard her say this on tv and substituted the mayo for yogurt. It's great and easier than the crushed up Ritz crackers I usually used. Cooked mayo sounded sort of wrong Hmm

SingingSands · 16/03/2012 16:38

I'm going to give this a go - will look out for her book too Smile

Am I right in thinking that she won Masterchef a while ago? Or am I confused? (again!)

Blu · 16/03/2012 16:44

oh, yuk.
Especially if you are now suggesting cooking chicken in mayo and CRISPS.

Is this whole thread a cunningly disguised plug for the book? Welcome to Mn TorrieLoo.

torieloo · 16/03/2012 16:49

she did win celebrity masterchef, yes.....

SwedishEdith - yogurt sounds good!!! :))

torieloo · 16/03/2012 17:20

Hi Blu, thanks for the welcome- of course it is a cunningly disguised plug for the book. being the mother of 3 kids I have nothing better to do than come on here to give people a recipe ;) Lisa's just become the 5th female food writer to top the bookseller's top 20 hardback non-fiction chart in the past 10 years so I'm really proud of her ....Give it a go- you'll be surprised! :)

Blu · 16/03/2012 17:36

No, no, I don't believe mayonnaise is an ingredient to be used in a hot recipe.

And how anyone who includes recipes using mayo and rice krispies gets to be the 5th female food writer to...(insert blurb) is a source of considerable amazement to me.

Delia, Claudia Roden, Elizabeth David, Angela Hartnett, Sam from Moro, Madhur Jaffrey, Rose Grey and Ruth Rogers, and even Nigella Lawson, must be weeping into their onions!

Fine, those who enjoy this stuff, but really, it sounds bleugh.

landofsoapandglory · 16/03/2012 17:39

I've got the book and am going to make this recipe this weekend. I follow Lisa on Twitter and people have been going mad about it.

I made the banana cake last week and loved it.

torieloo · 16/03/2012 17:52

thanks landofsoapandglory!

I'm off, thanks Blu, you've confirmed what I thought Mumsnet was- I was a bit scared to post on here and that's why! although there are some really nice comments, human nature makes us home in on the horrid ones. I came on to help out as I saw some people were interested in the recipe. If you weren't you needn't have involved yourself. I won't be posting on here again- just don't understand the need for bitchiness especially to people's families! Bye! :(

Blu · 16/03/2012 17:55

Lots of people said they liked the sound of it!

I was not bitchy, just giving my reaction.

MargueritaaPracatan · 16/03/2012 17:57

I think you were quite rude there, Blu.

Seabright · 16/03/2012 17:58

Well done Blu, you have just reinforced all the crap being peddled in the media about the bitchiness and bullying on MN.

Ok, you might not like the recipe or even the writer, but I think that was over the top and uncalled for.

torieloo · 16/03/2012 17:58

this bit

"And how anyone who includes recipes using mayo and rice krispies gets to be the 5th female food writer to...(insert blurb) is a source of considerable amazement to me.

is bitchy!

MargueritaaPracatan · 16/03/2012 18:02

You must be very proud, torieloo, I would be too!

BillyBollyBandy · 16/03/2012 18:02

No you were being mean Blu, there are diplomatic ways to speak to someone's sister about their occupation.

Neither of us have tried it, so neither can really have an opinion.

Stay around torieloo, it is a great forum community - even if their are some grumps Grin
