I have been not so secretly hankering after one for ages, and dh has offered to buy me one for christmas. But it is lots of money and I need to be sure, will I really like it?

Anyone who has a kitchenaid, can you tell me how fab it is?

Thanks.

I absolutely love mine, I insisted on getting custody of it when I got divorced. Use it everyday, and all the bowls and bits go in the dishwasher...bliss...

shelley72 · 17/12/2011 15:29

yep you will! i had one for last christmas and i love it. my only (slight) regret is the colour - i went for the grey/silver instead of the candy apple red which i love, but didnt go with the kitchen. i have heard of people having them re-sprayed tho!!!

sybiltherednosedreindeer · 17/12/2011 16:11

I really like the candy apple red but my kitchen is cream/green. I don't like the apple green though which is a bit lime and not very me. I was thinking of maybe going for the cream but it looks very boring next to the red.

Will i regret it if I don't get the red? Thanks for your help ladies, I very much appreciate it!

Also (as a quick aside) are there any extras it would pay me to have?

Ihave a cream kitchen with black Granite and i went for the black one as i thought it would see me though any change of kitchen i may have. Love it love it love it.

I have the ice cream bowl and the meat grinder/sausage stuffer attachements too.

Mine developed a small fault in the first year and they collected it and it was damaged in transit. So they gave me a brand new one without me having to ask. Brilliant service.

sybiltherednosedreindeer · 17/12/2011 16:47

I never thought of the black one, I have dark granite too so that could work. I'm not sure I would use a sausage stuffer, but am drawn to the pasta maker despite never having made pasta in my life

I have Candy Apple Red and it is stunning :) I had use of a granite one but it just blended in to the kitchen, if DH I was spending that much money on it I wanted it to stand out and be seen. I have an extra bowl, ice cream maker and pasta maker.

Civilon · 17/12/2011 17:17

KitchenAid porn...

Didn't know the bits went in the dishwasher...

sybiltherednosedreindeer · 17/12/2011 17:20

Civilon, I didn't know that either. But it is definitely a bonus!

I have no idea what colour to get. Cream seems safe but a little boring and I like loads of the other colours.

I do like the sound of the ice cream and pasta making attachments though.

In the summer the ice cream maker lives in the freezer and we use it 2/3 times a week. It is currently swirling mince pie ice cream for pudding tonight.

I never made pasta before but I do make quite a bit now 2/3 times a month.

I also make bread dough almost daily.

TheGashlycrumbTinies · 17/12/2011 17:25

I used to have a cream, and FB Cooking Apple Green kitchen, got the Matt Gunmetal Grey one, as we have lots of other appliances in this colour.

You will love it.

Civilon · 17/12/2011 17:33

You have all given me the sin of Lust.

TheTinselsTheWrongColour · 17/12/2011 18:15

Like civilon said

and now it's not just me that loves it,when I come home from work I find the dh has been using my baby (he never wipes it tenderly like I does though :0 )

get one get one if you love to cook

sybiltherednosedreindeer · 17/12/2011 18:18

What colour is it Tinsel? I can see I'm going to be hours in John Lewis tomorrow dithering over which one to get.

TheTinselsTheWrongColour · 17/12/2011 18:27

I just got the white one as I like the cleanness of it and then I can paint the kitchen whatever colour I like

my mother has had a yellow one for years but she has to keep the colour of the kitchen in keeping with hers as father would not buy another due to colour

sybiltherednosedreindeer · 17/12/2011 18:40

I didn't even realise they did a white one! See, that would probably go really nicely with my white delonghi kettle and toaster...

I shall probaby get really flustered and end up with the raspberry ice one. Which whilst lovely, would be the worst possible colour for me. For 400 quid though I feel a bit under pressure to get the right one.

Will I really care once I start using it what colour it is?

GetDownNesbitt · 17/12/2011 18:42

I love my Kitchen Aid. In fact, I may just go and look at it now for a bit. Just to be sure it is still there.

Mine is cream btw.

TheTinselsTheWrongColour · 17/12/2011 18:43

once you start using it and get some accessories then you probably won't give a monkeys :o

only time I think it would bother you is if you want to redecorate (too sensible for my own good me)

YougreatChristmaspudding · 17/12/2011 18:52

I have just been to give mine a wipe and polish because of this thread!

sybiltherednosedreindeer · 17/12/2011 18:56

I love the fact that you all love them so much! It makes me think that I am definitely not going to regret getting one.

covermeup · 17/12/2011 19:02

Wow I really didn't realise they were so expensive! (Just googled them!) I don't own one but have used them before and do think they are really good. I couldn't ever spend that much money on one myself to be honest though! Lovely colours, but I have to say I really don't think it's worth that much!

covermeup · 17/12/2011 19:03

The raspberry ice one is very gorgeous though!!

sybiltherednosedreindeer · 17/12/2011 19:08

You're right Covermeup, they are very expensive.

But they are also very lovely, and strokable, and just right somehow. And I desire one in the same way that dh desires an Aston Martin. Now, an Aston is way beyond our budget but this we can afford and it is practical, which counts for something surely?

OP posts:
sybiltherednosedreindeer · 17/12/2011 19:09

I know, the raspberry one should be wrong in so many ways and yet it isn't.

My dh has bought me one for Christmas. I have chosen cream and I managed to get it for £335 on debenhams website by using a 20% off code. So excited as it arrived on Wednesday but I am not allowed to look at it until Christmas day. Great saving though.

CiderwithBuda · 17/12/2011 19:21

I'm getting one for Xmas too. V excited. Have thought long and hard about colour and am going for candy apple red. Kitchen is pale grey units and black granite worktops and it needs something vivid for impact. M

DH is researching apparently!
