That's it really. I need some lovely, infallible roast potatoes for Christmas dinner. I thought that someone said Iceland's were good but can't remember. Also - how big a bag would you need for 9 people? Ta!

I never buy frozen food, BUT have never made a Christmas dinner for 10.

So those who are fainting and needing smelling salts at frozen spuds, cut a little slack please!

I think I would be cutting corners left right and centre.

Have brought frozen potatoes and parsnips and don't give a toss. Want to spend xmas day with my kids, not in the kitchen.

In answer to original question though, I buy asda or icelands own.

BUT you need just as much space in an oven to cook the nasty plastic frozen ones - HA!

I find that sort of thing easy - tis just common sense really, the turkey goes in then an hour before it's due to be ready I parboil the spuds and lob then in for 45 mins, then 10 mins before I put the veggies on

Even I can do roasties although as only DP will eat turkey I get a butter basted joint from M&S open packet throw in oven, no entrails/stuffing/bones anything!

oh M&S do the whole veggie ready to roast thing too aka Boxing Day got 6 to cook for and 8 months pregnant!

silentbite - but then there's all the other bits and bobs to make - the bread sauce, the white sauce, the gravy - that's where the wheels always come off chez dinosaur!

Oh the bread sauce white sauce and gravy etc is easy peasy. I have several packets which have foolproof instructions on the back.

I know this isn't the point of the thread and lots of you will raise your eyebrowns, but I am rapidly getting turned on to the idea of frozen veggies for xmas day...

Then I bung them straight in the oven with veggy oil, on a medium heat, for about 1.5 hours.

And if they taste rank, tough. I'm not buggering about on Christmas day. dp will be at work most of the day, ds is an only child, and am nearly 6 months pg. I want to sit on the sofe and watch ds play with his toys!

I am not using frozen veg, am using ready chopped fresh. And a joint from Iceland. And it will be lamb, and I am having frozen yorkshire puds.

christmas is a time for having a meal I want, not what people expect me to eat, IMHO.

You are joking, aren't you? I can get my head around buying frozen roast potatoes - but you can't serve up packet white sauce and bread sauce on Christmas Day!

I just remember my mother getting herself in a right state, every year, and we never appreciated the meal much anyway, I just don't see the point!
