spinach, cavolo nero, swiss chard?
Is it dark green?

MarsyChristmas · 06/12/2005 20:23

Is it spinach or chard?

What colour stem?

NomDePlumPudding · 06/12/2005 20:24

rofl @ this 'guess the vegetable' thread.

popsycalindisguise · 06/12/2005 20:25

lets find links to pictures

MarsyChristmas · 06/12/2005 20:26

who is your veg box provider?

Don't you get a newsletter with details of what's in the box and recipes?

Beabea · 06/12/2005 20:27

White stem, fairly dark green leaves.

chard?

Beabea · 06/12/2005 20:29

Yes but this item has obviously replace the leeks that we dont need. I have been trying to look for a picture of the other cabbagey things from the other boxes. No success yet.

isn't it a pointed cabbage?
treat like a cabbage, lovely stir fried with garlic

MarsyChristmas · 06/12/2005 20:30

It sounds like Chard. Does it look like the link below?

Epiffany · 06/12/2005 20:32

chard is a vegetable of godliness
delish with mashed potato, for the kids we mash it together
I lvoe it with butter and nutmeg
Full of iron
yummmmm

Beabea · 06/12/2005 20:33

I dont think it is chard as there is more leaf and less stalk than the picture shows.

OP posts:
Beabea · 06/12/2005 20:35

No not a pointed cabbage either.

I didnt realise this would end up being such a guessing game.

Looking at general cabbage piccies now.

chard doesn't always have so much stalk though.

What about making it into a nice, hearty winter soup?

Epiffany · 06/12/2005 20:36

like this chard???

here

Epiffany · 06/12/2005 20:36

so far I've had to ask for kohl rabi and jerusalem artichoke
if in doubt put in soup

Beabea · 06/12/2005 20:42

Still not sure it is chard. Its individual leaves are grown tighter together than all the chard piccies yet not as tight as a pointed cabbage.

I will either have to ring able and cole or just use one of your cooking suggestions.

have you checked on their website?

I'm surprised there wasn't a note in with the strange veg. They normally pop a little slip in with apologies on it.

gossifairyonthexmastree · 06/12/2005 20:47

beabea, abel & cole always send us a note if they change something??
try the website, might say something there?

Beabea · 06/12/2005 20:47

Yes thats where I first looked to see what it might be. I have looked through the other boxes and nothing comes close. Just the poss of italian chard.

No note in the box.

Never mind, thanks for the suggestions.

OP posts:
MarsyChristmas · 06/12/2005 20:48

soup it is then. Enjoy

Beabea · 06/12/2005 20:48

where on the site would I find a message about that?

OP posts:
followthestarlover · 06/12/2005 20:50

abel and cole have been putting italian chard in their boxes... so that could be it!

gossifairyonthexmastree · 06/12/2005 20:50

just looking at the website (have to get to the bottom of this!)
which box do you get?

Mincepiedermama · 06/12/2005 20:50

cavolo nero?
