dh took dds blackberry picking yesterday. so we are arguing over whether to make a pie or a crumble. Maybe it's just me but I just don't get pie. Who on earth would have pie when you can lovely crumbley, caramelly, nutty crumble? and do you have it with creme fraiche, custard or ice cream? or do you just have three servings so you can have one of each? mmmm my mouth is watering

blackberry and apple can go pie or crumble IMO

but still with custard, or creme fraiche for the ones who feel guilty if they have custard

RachD · 03/09/2005 10:08

Yum, yum, yum -can we come to tea hatstand ?
You are, obviously, one of those supper-dooper-brilliant - 'I can make crumble mummies' - I wish I was more like you !
crumble, crumble - yes please, with custard & a dollop of ice-cream aswell.
Heaven !!!!

Cooperoo · 03/09/2005 10:13

Crumble definately with custard, ice cream and cream given the chance. Mmmmm.
I put porridge oats in with my crumble and it is yummy, has anyone else tried this?

Ameriscot2005 · 03/09/2005 10:20

My crumble is just pastry without the water added (with sugar and cinnamon), so much easier than pastry as there is no refrigerating and rolling out required.

MummyJules · 03/09/2005 10:27

hatstand · 03/09/2005 10:32

aloha · 03/09/2005 10:48

Crumble, of course!
(but men are funny about pies)

aloha · 03/09/2005 10:49

Loathe custard. Yuk. Like cream.

NannyL · 03/09/2005 11:25

crumbel with ice cream and creme fraiche if you ask me!

MrsSpoon · 03/09/2005 11:38

Crumble every time, if only because it's so easy. Hatstand buy a Magimix, bung all the stuff in and blitz for a few seconds.

Hulababy · 03/09/2005 11:43

Definitely crumble and with custard. I like proper puddings every time

Jackstini · 03/09/2005 11:44

Crumble every time - custard or thick cream mmm

serenity · 03/09/2005 11:47

Crumble yum,

Yes to oats and yes to cinnamon too, and also brown sugar sprinkled on the top.

Quite fancy rhubarb crumble and custard now. Proper tinned custard too, none of that fancy home made stuff

Pastry is just so yucky compared to a crumble topping.
