If you could only ever use two condiments for the rest of your life, what would they be?

I'm including sauces, ketchups and relishes as condiments.

I think I'd just stick with salt and pepper - DS1 would have tomato ketchup and extra tomato ketchup. But I don't know that I could live without Dijon Mustard - it's a tough one. And horseradish - could I really go the rest of my life without horseradish sauce in exchange for pepper? I do love a good condiment :o.

Does custard count? I don't think I could live without custard. I have it with my breakfast every morning.

The other one would have to be either mint sauce, ketchup or creme fraiche. I'll have to think about which to choose. Presumably you could still have salt in food, just not to add afterwards.

Black pepper and apple sauce.

Or maybe redcurrant jelly.

That is a tough one! My DH would struggle massively with this, he never eats a meal without condiments. Mayo, ketchup, mustard, horseradish, tartar, different mustard. We have a whole shelf in the fridge occupied by his little jars of this and that.

American mustard and curry paste :).
Actually any mustard but English mustard.

We have what is known as The Pickle Shelf in our kitchen - 'tis all sorts of chutneys, pickles, sauces, ketchups etc.

I think DH and I would just have to give up and die if we couldn't have condiments Grin

CuppaTeaJanice · 10/08/2010 16:26

...oh, and I forgot salad cream.......

steamedtreaclesponge · 10/08/2010 16:28

Same here, Pol - what would life be without chutney?

Having said that, if I HAD to choose it would probably be soy sauce and mango chutney. Although giving up the garlic pickle would be a bit of a wrench...

notwavingjustironing · 10/08/2010 16:28

tabasco and white pepper

Ketchup and Branston pickle

Hassled · 10/08/2010 17:13

Custard is NOT a condiment . And nor is garlic, so PrettyCandles, you get another.

I'd forgotten about soy sauce. Dammit. I have an insane collection of condiments - and I've just discovered Reggae Reggae Ketchup which is delicious, and goes with most things.

I shall have no sleep, I tell you.
