Anyone planning to see this? From the trailer I was expecting it to be marmite and not in any way a straight adaptation of the novel, but the reviews I've seen so far are universally uncomplimentary. I'd already booked to see it, so will go in with an open mind!

I have yet to read a good review, so I might swerve. But I’m a big fan of Emerald Fennell, so I might change my mind.

berlinbaby2025 · 10/02/2026 20:35

Like the PP above, the reviews have put me off. I’ll see it when it comes on streaming.

I’ve admired her previous films, and don’t mind utterly bonkers as a creative theme. But I’m really not keen on either of the two main actors - and I’ve never cared for Wuthering Heights. (Shock)

Even with a ‘free’ cinema membership ticket it’s probably more than I could tolerate.

ElementalPicnicTable · 10/02/2026 20:43

I'm not really into BDSM, so won't be seeing it.

GCAcademic · 10/02/2026 20:44

I’ll update after I’ve seen it. I have mixed feelings about Emerald Fennell, and am worried she may have peaked with Promising Young Woman.

I’ve booked tickets for Friday 20th Feb! I think it’ll be like marmite too. I can’t wait!

Teaforthetotal · 10/02/2026 20:47

I had an open mind about it but the trailer looks a bit naff. I'm probably a bit traditional when it comes to WH .I did think Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi came across well on Graham last Friday though. If a friend really wants to see it at the cinema I'll go with them but otherwise think I'll wait to watch in the comfort of my one home.

I enjoyed Saltburn but it was a great watch at home film.

I finished reading the book this morning for the first time so I’m interested in seeing this interpretation.

RS1987 · 10/02/2026 20:53

Im looking forward to it - love the book and love Emerald Fennel

Empress13 · 10/02/2026 20:56

Yes planning on going tho I’m thinking it’s going to be a case of you either love it or hate it

I finished reading the book today for the umpteenth time so I'm interested in seeing it, though I'll have to wait until it's streaming as no cinemas where I am. No doubt there'll be elements I like and others I hate, just like the other adaptations of it.

WongandLynch · 10/02/2026 20:56

Not a fan of Emerald Fennell. She’s too much of a twee person trying to be edgy for my tastes but Wuthering Heights is my favourite book and I have an annual cinema pass so I’ll probably give it a go.

I don’t there’s ever been a great adaptation of it that really gets into the darkness of the book, so I’m really expecting much.

lemonraspberry · 10/02/2026 21:01

Jacob Elordi was so good in Netflix's Frankenstein that I really don't won't to ruin that impression with a less than brilliant performance in this.

What did you think to the book?

JaneExotic · 10/02/2026 21:19

I’m going on Saturday and I’m looking forward to it!

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 10/02/2026 21:23

Big fan of the book, I am worried but my curiosity has got the better of me and I’m going on Friday

I suppose it can’t be any worse than the. Cliff Richard version which I will admit to having watched!

Nothing can be better than the Kate Bush version. It’s just impossible.

I don’t think I could put myself though the butchering of the Bradford accents

SpringCalling · 10/02/2026 21:29

I’m going to see it on Friday with my 15 year old DD … suspect I’m gonna be sitting on my hands to not keep covering her eyes! But she said she wanted to see it with me … gotta take these opportunities with teenagers!

LadyKenya · 10/02/2026 21:33

No, the trailer did nothing for me. I have no desire to see the film.

Surely they can't be any worse than Juliette Binoche's accent in that version.

I was confused by Cathy appearing to have a completely different accent to Heathcliff in the trailer 😅

peanutbuttertoasty · 10/02/2026 22:06

Not seen that version but can imagine!!
