Absolutely skint at the moment so I won’t be watching this in the cinema but will wait till it comes to one of the platforms but OMG I am so excited!

Just read some reviews and they’re all singing its praises, apparently the best one yet! I loved both of the first 2 and as far as I’m concerned they’ll always be 2 of the best zombie movies made - please let me know if you go to see this and what you think, I shall live vicariously through your experiences until I get to see it 😄

I plan on watching it after the kids go to bed tomorrow night! Microwave popcorn, maybe a cheese and crackers platter, glass of wine and get cosy on the sofa.

I doubt it'll beat 28 days later but we shall see.

Gettingbysomehow · 19/06/2025 16:16

I'm going to see it on Sunday. I go to the 11.40 am showing to avoid the noisy idiots.

MotherAbigail · 19/06/2025 16:55

I’ve just been to see it! Not at all what I expected, but really enjoyed it.

TheTwoLeggedGrooveMachine · 19/06/2025 17:08

Looking forward to seeing it in an air conditioned cinema!

@WhistleBlower8

How are you going to watch it?

Stremio, 1080p upload with subtitles available from release day. Haven't been to the cinema in over 7 years.

BeachLife2 · 19/06/2025 17:41

Just left the cinema after seeing this. Really enjoyed it- definitely more of a drama with horror aspects than a pure horror like the first two.

Lots of interesting themes though like isolationism and rights of the individual v community, so there’s plenty to be explored in the second and possibly third movies.

May just have been me, but I also felt there was some anti-lockdown sentiment in there.

catlovingdoctor · 19/06/2025 17:44

I agree with other posters saying it's quite different to the previous two, with deeper exploration of a number of interesting themes.

Arthurnewyorkcity · 19/06/2025 17:56

Do I need to have watched the previous films to understand this one? I want to see it but I haven't seen any yet

BeachLife2 · 19/06/2025 18:10

@Arthurnewyorkcity

Definitely not- the story has pretty much nothing to do with the first two.

SisterMaryLuke · 19/06/2025 19:12

Just seen it this afternoon. I was really excited when I saw the trailer earlier in the year, but was worried it wouldn't live up to it. I thought it was fairly good overall, Ralf Fiennes was particularly good. I felt it went a bit crazy bananas near the end. It is nowhere near as amazing as the first film unfortunately.

Mikart · 19/06/2025 19:20

Going tomorrow

SocksAndTheCity · 19/06/2025 20:52

I'm going on Saturday afternoon which was the soonest I could find time. I'm guessing it's probably best to avoid the thread until after that.

icelolly12 · 19/06/2025 20:58

Want to see this but not good with gore, love jump scares and building of tension though, how gory is it?

HeartandSeoul · 19/06/2025 21:12

Hi! I know this is a really random question, but did a car radio feature in the plot (or just generally in the film) at any point?!

SisterMaryLuke · 19/06/2025 21:25

No, I don't recall a car radio at all.

HeartandSeoul · 19/06/2025 21:30

Thank you ☺️

rookiemere · 20/06/2025 07:01

We went to see it last night.

I was disappointed, it was a coming of age story with a few zombies and didn’t seem like it had much or anything to do with the previous films. There were lots of interesting themes that were not dug into in preference to odd historical footage and mystical scenes. The boy in the main role was amazing though, such a great actor.

Oh no! What a shame - the reviews did say that it was very different to the first 2 and that you didn’t need to have watched them prior, but I had hoped that it would have some good old zombie action. Still sounds like it’s worth a watch though…

Loved days, hated months. Why on earth move people to the isle of dogs when there is no clear perimeter view and still going to be dogs and rats eating the bodies and spreading it? I will watch years when it comes out on streaming. It looks very different.

ThePhantomoftheEcobubbleOpera · 20/06/2025 10:44

I loved days and months, two different styles though. Like when Cameron got his mitts on Ridley's Alien.

I read that this one labours on the metaphors. I hope it doesn't ruin it.

Rollergirl11 · 20/06/2025 18:00

Watching tonight. 28 days one of my favourite films ever. 28 weeks was shit in comparison but shouldn’t really compare as nothing to do with Boyle/Garland

Almost nervous watching 28 years and hope it lives up to expectations. Is there a decent soundtrack? I loved the original.

Mikart · 20/06/2025 18:49

We loved it. Found it very poignant

Was there much gore?

SisterMaryLuke · 20/06/2025 19:36

The soundtrack is excellent - Young Fathers.
