Blitz
The Killer ( I wish I had waited to watch it on. Netflix rather than paying to see this at the cinema)
Conclave
Furiosa
The Room Next Door. Probably the worst for me.

[Thread contains some spoilers for recent films - MNHQ]

It ends with us. What a crock of shite.

I agree and I was gutted as I loved the book. They did a shit job of it.

FatArse123 · 29/12/2024 12:52

I thought Maxxxine was pretty crap, and I was so looking forward to it, having loved Pearl.

I'd forgotten about Back to Black. Yes, that was shit.

StarMincePies · 29/12/2024 13:01

Poor Things.

I really thought it was revolting.

SocksAndTheCity · 29/12/2024 13:09

I had a ticket for Poor Things at the LFF (it was the 2023 closing film, I think) and I'd planned to go until I read the synopsis, which sounded so repulsive it completely put me off and I skipped it.

If I had gone I suspect it would be on my list too.

Dandylione · 29/12/2024 13:22

Megalopolis was breathtakingly awful

Carry On more pedestrianly shite

HagathaChristi · 29/12/2024 14:21

Black to Black
Poor Things
Wicked

Haven't seen many films this year as I didn't like the sound of many of them.

Isthisreasonable · 29/12/2024 14:27

Furiosa . Only a couple of us in the cinema and we were laughing at it (the CGI and the plot) most of the way though it.

Edited due to spellchecker mistakes

LetsGoFlyAKiteee · 29/12/2024 14:28

Back to black

Baghead..interesting concept but so poorly done. Then they seemed to lose the plot halfway through and all got very odd.

God, The Colour Purple wasn't just abysmal, it was offensive. I remember intending to walk out but it was pouring with rain so I stayed (at least two other people left).

I was disappointed that I hadn't been able to get to the cinema to see it - until I saw it on TV just before Christmas. I honestly was shocked I was watching it with some friends, one of whom is black; and not one of us had twigged that it was a musical, so we were sat in gobsmacked silence until our friend said, in the most pronounced false Southern (US) accent you can imagine was "No wunda dem folks is singin' an' dancin' coz dem is de best dressed niggahs I eva sin". How anyone could turn a hard-hitting bleak story of racism, rape and domestic violence into a musical is beyond words. We turned it off.

I am going to have to add the latest Poitot film to the list too. Give me David Suchet as Poirot any day!

Which one is the latest? I feel like I have missed it. If it’s Brannagh related though, hard pass.

A Haunting in Venice I believe.

I also missed Argyle off the list. That was dire despite having some great actors in.

Edited

Haunting in Venice came out last year but agree it wasn't great and had very little in common with the Agatha Christie novel.

FedUpWithXmasNow · 31/12/2024 21:08

I can't even believe anyone would ever presume to remake The Colour Purple. It's such a brilliant, classic film.

rookiemere · 01/01/2025 08:53

Queer - friend and I left after 30 minutes. It wasn't the sex scenes we objected to, we expected that, but man it was so boring.

Cantthinkofonenow · 01/01/2025 08:57

PuppyMonkey · 29/12/2024 12:19

Poor Things with Emma Stone. Completely and utterly atrocious.

I thought this film was amazing 😂

LyndaSnellsSniff · 01/01/2025 09:19

Gladiator 2 was crap.
It Ends With Us was a damp squib.

PuppyMonkey · 01/01/2025 10:43

@Cantthinkofonenow it was amazing they got away with duping everyone into believing it was Oscar worthy. Grin

GreatOak · 01/01/2025 10:56

The Crow remake. The worst film I ever saw in my life! What's worse is we PAID MONEY at the cinema to see it and stayed to the bitter end because we thought it would get better!

It did not.

A drunk man on one side of the (near deserted) cinema started singing along loudly with the one of the songs, and another man on the other side shouted at him to "shut the f**k up!". This was the most entertaining thing that happened during the film.

RealHousewivesOfTaunton · 01/01/2025 11:03

Mufasa. I saw it with DD and her friends the other day and my goodness, it was terrible.

Boredlass · 01/01/2025 11:05

twilightermummy · 29/12/2024 12:22

Heretic. I'd been really looking forward to it and rented it as my birthday movie. God, after all the rave reviews I was expecting something amazing but, it wasn't even mediocre. It's a shame as I love Hugh Grant but I do think he should stick to comedy roles.

I loved this film. I watched it twice.

SprinkleOfSunak · 01/01/2025 11:18

Wicked. What an absolute load of bollocks.

The first hour, or what feels like it, completely focuses on looks, bullying and typical high school type love of Ariana Grande’s character.

It just drags on and on, and started getting better nearer to the end when Jeff Goldblum appeared, but that’s only so they can get people excited for part 2 - not me, unless I need help getting to sleep!

Darlingstarlings · 01/01/2025 11:22

Dead pool and wolverine, absolutely atrocious. It's just the Ryan Reynolds show, doing the same jokes over and over again!! We rented it on Prime and turned it off after 15 minutes. It was terrible.

sorechalfonts · 01/01/2025 11:24

A Family Affair 😂
