Love it. And Seven Brides for Seven Brothers!

helpfulperson · 17/12/2023 18:20

I love it but much of it doesn't stand up to modern ethical scrutiny.

ArsenicInTheAppleTart · 17/12/2023 18:21

Yes I love the part where she takes off her cloak at the dance.

fishfingersandtoes · 17/12/2023 18:21

My nickname as a child

vincettenoir · 17/12/2023 18:21

It's great. So many good songs. I love it when calamatity comes home caked in mud.

wildthingsinthenight · 17/12/2023 18:22

Me! Absolutely love it

rumred · 17/12/2023 18:22

Doris Day is fabulous. Great voice, decent human

EmpressaurusOfCats · 17/12/2023 18:25

I always wished Calamity could have stayed as she was & got together with Katie.

Hamburgler666 · 17/12/2023 18:26

Yep, great film!

HermioneWeasley · 17/12/2023 18:26

mushroommummy · 17/12/2023 18:28

Needanewnamebeingwatched · 17/12/2023 18:28

Me me me

Candycurrantbun · 17/12/2023 18:28

I love that film. I've watched it countless times. It has some great sing-along songs.

Pashazade · 17/12/2023 18:29

Has anyone found steaming locations for any of the old musicals? I always think Calam would have done well staying with Kate as well!

SorrowsPrayers · 17/12/2023 18:34

Love a Doris Day movie!

bellinisurge · 17/12/2023 18:35

Top film. Know all the songs

CeciledeVolangesdeNouveau · 17/12/2023 18:38

I just relistened to “Black Hills of Dakota” and nearly cried (nana is a huge fan and I used to harmonise it with my sister before we stopped speaking). But I do love these old musicals overall even though some of them skate close to the edge - looking at you Oklahoma with an entire song where one character encourages another to commit suicide.

CeciledeVolangesdeNouveau · 17/12/2023 18:39

Their teeth are UNREAL though. Remember most of London was knocked down and England’s population was surviving on 2g of butter.

BlueberryVelvet · 17/12/2023 18:42

I always wanted Calam and Katie to live together in their gorgeous shack 😁

mrboombasticwhy · 17/12/2023 18:46

Meeeeee ! i love it , Doris Day was so lovely ,i also love On Moonlight Bay and By the Light of the Silvery Moon.
Just pure escapism from the drudge of life .
My late uncle was a big tough man and he loved Doris Day films too.

I think it’s Seven Brides for Seven Brothers that doesn’t stand up to scrutiny. I watched it at a small local theatre with a bunch of friends, & only stayed for the whole thing because a couple of our friends were in the cast & it would have been really rude to leave.
