Just seen Another Round, loved 'What a Life' in the closing scene, still humming it.

Also 'Angel of the Morning' in Promising Young Woman.

The entire Trainspotting soundtrack is perfect
You Can Leave Your Hat On in Full Monty
Sound Of Silence in The Graduate
Every song in the Muppets Christmas Carol

AbsolutelyPatsy · 08/08/2021 19:54

try to resist dancing to Hot Staff while in a queue, as in Full Monty

FreezerBird · 08/08/2021 20:11

The whole soundtrack of World's End. I think I must be just the right age for it. Mediocre film, but the songs bring me so much joy.

@Battleofwhocouldcareless

Agree with Guardians of the Galaxy soundtracks, the scene with Mr Blue Sky is amazing. I love the Sleepless in Seattle soundtrack. Stardust by Nat King Cole being a particular favourite, Bye Bye Blackbird by Joe Cocker and Make Someone Happy by Jimmy Durante.
I was going to put the scene where Groot dances to Mr Blue Sky.

Also Jump in Ready Player One.

(I watch this stuff with my young teen son Grin)

@ShadowInVain

Bittersweet Symphony at the end of Cruel Intentions.
I came on here to say exactly that!

Bad Moon Rising in American Werewolf in London.
All Along the Watchtower in Withnail and I.
Perhaps Perhaps Perhaps in Strictly Ballroom.

IrishMel · 30/09/2021 16:31

It is a tv series Big Little Lies theme song by Michael Kiwanuka. His voice is soo smooth and he sings just as good live. I really want to buy a record player and his album for listening to on a cold wet saturday afternoon just chillin. Listen to it you will love it. Great thread.

TheOnlyMrsM · 30/09/2021 16:48

A total cheesefest, both the song and film, and neither really to my taste, but! Love Is All Around - the Wet, Wet, Wet version - from Four Weddings And A Funeral springs to mind. It reminds me of being a young, relatively carefree, traveller - before the ball and mini-balls and chain came along.

damonhudnall · 06/10/2021 14:13

Only one correct answer - All Star from Shrek, just watched with DD the other night.

Rollergirl11 · 06/10/2021 18:48

Entire soundtrack to Trainspotting but stand out tracks are Lust for Life, Perfect Day and Born Slippy
Where is my mind by Pixies playing at the end of Fight Club
AM180 by Granddaddy and An Ending by Brian Eno in 28 Days later
Head over heels by Tears for Fears and Love will tear us apart by Joy Division in Donnie Darko

thisplaceisapigsty · 08/10/2021 17:17

Walking on Sunshine at the start of High Fidelity

MissLucyEyelesbarrow · 12/10/2021 17:49

Don't Stop Me Now in Shaun of the Dead. I admit that the Trainspotting soundtrack runs it a close second, but you just can't beat the choreographed beating to death of zombies to a late 70s pop classic.

Mooserp · 16/10/2021 22:39

I agree - Don't Stop me Now in Shaun of the Dead. I love that scene!!!

Also Caught by the Fuzz at the end of Hot Fuzz

YodaiamsaidI · 16/10/2021 22:42

It must have been love-pretty woman
In the arms of the angels-city of angels

ohdeerdolly · 16/10/2021 22:47

My baby shot me down in Kill Bill.

Deathproof and Baby Driver also have amazing soundtracks.

embolass · 16/10/2021 22:53

nicecheesegromit · 16/10/2021 23:01

St Elmo's Fire - St Elmo's Fire

Get into the Groove - desperately seeking Susan

HeartshapedFox · 16/10/2021 23:13

That Radiohead song at the end of the Shut Up and Dance episode of Black Mirror. Probably one of the most harrowing things Ive ever watched.

Not a pop song but the slow build music for the climax of 28 Days Later (more than a heartbeat?) is an absolute master class in using music on screen. Perfect.
