So, the Duke of Hastings as James Bond? What do we reckon?

The hot money is now on Rege-Jean Page as the next Bond.

I love a game of fantasy casting, but RJP wouldn’t have occurred to me as fantasy casting spontaneously because I’ve never seen him in anything else so just think of him as “that bloke from Bridgerton”.

However now it’s been mentioned he’s actually the first person rumoured who genuinely seems like a perfect fit. Everyone else in the running has been too skinny, too short, too old, can’t play posh, too thespy, too famous, not British enough, or just not fanciable enough. I’m not an obsessive fan but he’s objectively very pretty indeed.

What does everyone else think? Finally the perfect solution? British, 31, tall, can play posh, fit as hell.

He was in For the People as well and smouldered his way through that wonderfully. Seriously there’s so much sexual tension between him and the actress that plays Kate that I watched it just for them.

poorbuthappy · 08/04/2021 21:35

I think I'd probably cope. Smile

Magnificentmug12 · 08/04/2021 21:36

Yh, sounds a good match.

OverByYer · 08/04/2021 21:38

I’d be queuing for the premiere

proopher · 08/04/2021 21:38

I think he'd be fab, but I'm still hoping for James Norton Grin

doodlejump1980 · 08/04/2021 21:39

God yes please!

strangestranger · 10/04/2021 03:30

YES PLEASE!

ChocOrange1 · 10/04/2021 03:50

Hi is brilliant and so charming. I almost think he is too good to play Bond 😂

peak2021 · 10/04/2021 11:21

I think it is time for the end of James Bond films. Something from the past to be nostalgic about and watch occasionally perhaps.

SirSamuelVimes · 10/04/2021 11:23

Looks too young imo. In ten years maybe?

fizbosshoes · 10/04/2021 11:25

I saw Hastings and thought Ted Hastings Blush
I dont think hes quite suitable!Grin

Whitney168 · 10/04/2021 11:28

@proopher

I think he'd be fab, but I'm still hoping for James Norton Grin
Me too. Fantastic actor, and even (shamefully) attractive playing an utter scumbag in Happy Valley. Bring him on ...

Sure whoever they pick will be fabulous though, they all seem to bed in to their own type of Bond. Haven't seen Bridgerton, so not familiar with RJP.

LadyIsabellaWrotham · 10/04/2021 11:42

By the time they’ve got the script and started shooting it’ll be at least 2 years time. I think 33 is a decent age to start playing Bond, given that they’ll want to get ten years out of him. That’s was my problem with Idris Elba - he’s too old to start playing the role if they want to get at least three movies out of him over a period of several years.

But I would love to see Ted Hastings as Bond.

Another vote for James Norton.

SeeYouInAnotherLife · 10/04/2021 11:49

I think he might just work Grin

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 10/04/2021 11:50

So he was in For the People.

I didn't even notice him there. Blush

Fkrkrodps · 10/04/2021 11:54

I think he’s a good age. If I recall correctly, the books said that agents retired from the job in their late thirties. I think the films have cast older Bonds so often, people have come to expect an older Bond.

LadyIsabellaWrotham · 10/04/2021 11:57

Never seen Norton in anything but having googled I agree he seems to tick all the boxes as well. I think casting RJP would get more publicity buzz though.

Lightsabre · 10/04/2021 11:58

He'd make a great Bond.

DeusEx · 10/04/2021 11:59

Thought this was interesting in setting out the ages of each bond in each film: www.google.co.uk/amp/s/screenrant.com/james-bond-movies-007-actors-ages-how-old/amp/

Sean Connery was 32 when he started playing bond. Roger Moore was 57 when he stopped!

evilharpy · 10/04/2021 12:02

I think he'd be perfect.

LadyIsabellaWrotham · 10/04/2021 12:02

People frequently say “of course X isn’t too old to play Bond, Roger Moore was still playing him in his late fifties!” I do wonder whether those people have ever watched the later Roger Moore films. They are not a good argument for casting an older chap IMO.

Rege-Jean or James works. But the DoH would get more publicity because of his ethnicity, positive and negative. If there's a sense popularity is waning, it would be a good choice.
