The type that doesn't sound great in its synopsis but turned out to be brilliantly entertaining, moving, hysterical. It's probably British. Definitely understated.

I'll offer Marvellous with Toby Jones

The Greasy Strangler.

Seriously, give it a chance.
(Eat your tea BEFORE you watch it...)

The game night recommended reminded me of the film Tag.
It's an American film but based on a true story of a group of friends playing a game of tag/tig over their lives.
Clue is on sky cinema at the moment. Think it was there for Halloween

Sorry no time to RTFT now but will return
Second lots already mentioned, Harold and Maude, Delicatessen.

Goodbye Lenin- LOVE
A Very Long Engagement (but sad)

I liked Napoleon Dynamite - geeky boy, v American but gentle humour it's a PG

Locke is for Tom Hardy fans. Not an action movie.

ChestnutSquash · 11/11/2020 07:05

I really enjoyed Eddie the Eagle
(about Eddie Edwards the skier).

A street cat named bob

Ingvermama · 11/11/2020 07:41

Son of Rambo. Watched with my children, we all loved it!

JamminDoughnuts · 11/11/2020 08:03

I loved Parasite

Lunaballoon · 11/11/2020 08:05

If you like Hunt for the Wilderpeople, you may like Dean Spanley (also with Sam Neil.

Anything by Wes Anderson fulfills the quirky brief, though not British. The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou is one of my quirky favourites among many.

Lunaballoon · 11/11/2020 08:09

@ingvermama. Son of Rambow - another gem!

LongPauseNoAnswer · 11/11/2020 08:12

I am not an easy man - it’s French though but has English subtitles.

BikeRunSki · 11/11/2020 08:12

Adult Life Skills, with Jodie Whittaker before she was that famous. It’s on Prime. Very British, filmed in Yorkshire.

Sightseers is the weirdest film I've ever seen!

ArtichokeAardvark · 11/11/2020 08:16

Keeping Mum, with Rowan Atkinson, Kristen Scott Thomas and Maggie Smith. The blackest of black comedy!

onyourway · 11/11/2020 08:19

Julie & Julia, with Meryl Streep.

Cute, easy watching, not that quirky, but peaceful

Know the film. Couldn't remember the title but very definitely a quirky British film. And it has a great ending.

Badlands, my all time favourite. Beautifully shot, very quirky characters (hence my username!) A young gorgeous Martin Sheen and Sissy Spacek. So cool.
