Anyone seen this or planning to ?
The reviews are "mixed" to say the least .

But the trailers look ok ( though usually all the good bits are in the trailer and the film is just padding)

There's a twist ...........no spoilers !

Was it just me or was the twist blindingly obvious?

Getoffmylilo · 22/12/2019 01:30

It was fine, better than I thought though probably wouldn't watch it again if it was on the telly. Music was great.

I’ve seen it twice. Didn’t guess the twist at all (the first time). Enjoyed it more knowing the twist (the second time)

Went to see this tonight with my two teenage daughters. My expectations were quite low after all the bad reviews, but I actually really enjoyed it. It was clunky in parts. However, eldest daughter and I even cried at the 'big reveal'. Was a good, leave-your- brain-at-the-door Christmas holiday film.
The 'lesbian pudding' line was great!

It was pretty bad, illogical and bloody obvious
I’m surprised the cast aren’t embarrassed by it

Liking this so far although dont like the lead!

Newsenmum · 26/12/2025 21:24

Was the twist a bit ridiculous?

It’s my favourite Christmas film which I have seen multiple times over the years and I feel like I’ve been watching a different film to some posters!

I saw it in the cinema at the time with a friend who had lost her adult son in a tragic accident and she found the “reveal” deeply moving and beautiful. I think it has more depth than some give it credit for and I love the prettiness of London at Christmas and the gradual change from the lead character’s self- destructive behaviour to someone who looked outside herself and her redemption. I loved the comedic moments, the male lead, the various themes and often find myself pondering them.

I may even watch it one more time before I put it away for another 11 months.
