This threads probably been done before..
But anyway..
what's your all time favourite film? Something that you would go back and watch again? Even if it's a strange one. My all time favourite is Shawshank redemption.. I know, I know! I've been asked why because everyone else seems to think it's boring but I honestly love it. I'm going on maternity leave soon and know I'll end up wanting to watch films when I'm bored. Hopefully I can look at this thread when I'm struggling for a film to watch! I'll take your word for it that it's a good film!

Anne of the Thousand Days. Amazingly acted 1970s chronicle of the rise and fall of Anne Boleyn.

I think it might be Groundhog Day. It's the only film that if it's on TV I can;t turn off, even though i've seen it so many times before.

Far too many to mention. Dh and I once decided to list our ten favourite films and to use our two lists as the starting point to build our own video collection. I couldn't get below 50!

I love several of those already mentioned - Apollo 13, Dr Zhivago, Big, etc. I also love a number of old black and white films - The Shop Around the Corner, Goodbye Mr Chips and Random Harvest to name a few.
Not really a fan of a lot of modern day stuff.

Con air

Mrs. Doubtfire

I love films so it’s really difficult to choose one. I really love Father of the Bride with Steve Martin, it’s my go to film when I need a pick me up. I think because I lost my dad at an early age that I just love the see the father and daughter relationship.
Also love Big, When Harry Met Sally, Pretty Woman, The Notebook.

It depends. Shawshank is a beautifully told, satisfying story. I do like it. But I wouldn't go out of my way to see it again, and tbh, if I happened upon it in the schedules I might not bother either.

It's a bit like appreciating the beauty of a model in a perfume ad. I get it, I appreciate it, it works very well, but once I've seen it, I'm kind of done.

I tend to gravitate to quotable cult movie stuff or films that I am happy to just watch over and over. So for me, my favourites are the ones I'm comfortably familiar with. Some are objectively fairly pablum, some better. I can't do just one, so I shall pick from a few genres.

For a thriller - Source Code.
For adventure - The Mummy
For cult classic - The Princess Bride
For historical epic - Gladiator
For romcom - What's your number?
For classic Hollywood - Singin' in the Rain.

It's a toss up between Alien and Aliens
