Loved Luna and Bellatrix. Sirius is still and will always be wrong

The only 2 bits I got narked by this time were quidditch (or lack of) and Cho Chang - there is editing and changing

Other than that its the Harry Potter I have enjoyed the most at the cinema (although to be fair it is the one I've left the longest gap between book and film so I can't remember as much and play spot the changes!).

One question though - Harry and the cardigan... WHY?!?!!

FlameDelacour · 12/07/2007 22:46

Oh, forgot a centaur

I haven't seen it, but apparently Daniel Radcliffe thought Harry might try and copy Lupin and his style of teaching (and knitwear!)

TenaLady · 12/07/2007 22:48

Oh do spill, Ive only seen the trailer, is it as good as it looks?

FlameDelacour · 12/07/2007 22:50

Ooooooooooooooooh - yes, that makes sense with the cardy then. Tis truly terrifying!

I really enjoyed it

I've just gotton back from seeing it... absoutely loed it, definitely the best film yet!

filchthemildmanneredjanitor · 12/07/2007 23:33

oh thank god!!have just started thread about this and got no hits!

cho-yes utterly wrong, as with the whole breaking a hole in the room of requirement.

dobby was sorely missed.

sirius better than i thought although yes-he should be christopher eccleston.

also didn't like that they missed out the pensieve bit in snapes office.

hate michael gambon as dumbledore. wrong just wrong.

GryffindorGHOSTY · 12/07/2007 23:35

Can't wait ...
Won't open this thread again ...
Seeing it next week ... after Aussie school hols to avoid the oiks.

REBELlatrixlestrange · 12/07/2007 23:35

Christopher Eccleston would be vv good as Sirius.

filchthemildmanneredjanitor · 12/07/2007 23:39

he would wouldn't he? he is sweet but can do dark very very well. gary oldman way too old.

herladyship · 13/07/2007 16:10

agree with flame, luna and bellatrix are fab

but not so sure about the plot changes

it is the film i have enjoyed the most (so far) though... might be really sad and go again this weekend as another friend has asked me!

janeitebus · 13/07/2007 22:08

Loved it. Luna is adorable and it was good to see more of Neville.

Gary Oldman as Sirius has grown on me a lot - not at all convinced by Christopher Eccleston I'm afraid - he needs to be more handsome - that guy who played Mr Rochester would be good, though I think we've had that conversation before!

I thought the pace was good - far better than the other films; I've never known a film go so quickly.

Agree that the Cho thing was very annoying and they also missed lots of things out, which was frustrating - eg Sirius' mother.

Liked Kreacher and thought that Imelda Staunton was absolutely brilliant - have had to eat my words there as I wasn't at all convinced when I heard she was playing Umbridge.

christywhisty · 13/07/2007 22:29

Haven't seen it yet but apparently the cardy thing is harry's tribute to professor lupin, who wore a cardy.

MaPickleLovesDinosaurs · 13/07/2007 22:45

Agree with the mild mannered janitor. And now I have nothing to say for she has nicked all of my thoughts.

I liked it a lot and I want a broomstick. That flies obviously. I could get a muggle broomstick no problem.

PinkPotterWeasleys · 13/07/2007 22:52

I loved the film but agree about Sirius. I always imagined him as stockier and more handsome - a dark haired hunky chunky man not that scrawny thing!
Luna was good and her last scene made me realise that we should all skip more - walking is an over-rated way of getting around
What's wrong with Cho?

FlameDelacour · 14/07/2007 13:57

They changed what happened w/r Cho and the room of requirement.

PinkPotterWeasleys · 14/07/2007 16:34

Oh thanks - I'll have to read the book again!

MissGrissindor · 14/07/2007 17:02

I loved it. The special effects were great and the ending with Voldemort was brilliant.

DumbledoresGirl · 14/07/2007 21:02

Come on then, lets have the lowdown. let's face it, the fourth film did not rate that highly because so much was missed out. I swear no-one who hadn't read the book could have understood the plot at all. So how does this new film compare?

Not that I am not going to see it anyway, but I dont want to get my hopes up too much if it is going to be another skimped affair.

And how does DR shape up these days?

alipigwidgeon · 14/07/2007 21:05

The effects are amazing. Agree that Luna is amazing. Missed out a lot re: Cho and Harry, but all in all I have to say that they edited it far better than I thought they would to say it was such a long book. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Very dark just like the book roll on Saturday next week.

DumbledoresGirl · 14/07/2007 21:08

I am not too bothered if the Harry/Cho bits are missed out. I didn't really like them in the book anyway and it is not as if he settles with her later .... or does he?

suezee · 14/07/2007 21:08

ive not watched it yet but i really hoped they would've done this film as 2 parter, they really will have cut loads out i know i will watch it then read the book just to bitch

BandofMuggles · 14/07/2007 21:13

He's supposed to be skinny after 12 years in Azkaban.
I am going on Thursday and looking forward to it, but as I have seen the other 4 my expectations are low enough that I , hopefully, wont be disappointed

virgo · 14/07/2007 21:19

I saw it on thursday and thought not sure about this at all but as the days have gone by its grown on me.

Trouble is my DS and I had only just finished reading the book so it was all very fresh in my mind and that was probably why I was disappointed,

I thought the battle was dissappointing was really looking forward to the brains attacking Ron etc but no luck there.

I thought Harry's reaction after Sirius dies was powerful but too short it could have been an oportunity to have the whole place in tears but perhaps they didnt want that. (I cried, but I knew I would as I cry evrytime I read that part)

Shame they didnt do the whole harry angry in Dumbledores office scene.

Luna is adorable, so amazing.

Kreacher is great. He made me laugh but he was there are a token gesture I thought insead of the evil, nasty elf he was in the book. I saw it on Thursday and thought not sure about this at all but as the days have gone by its grown on me.
