I have to say, I wish I'd never watched The Shining (at a sleepover when I was 14). It scared the pants off me!

Anyone else?

A couple of years ago I watched a film called The Counselor. How such a shite film managed to get such an all star cast i don't know.

And the utter crapness was compounded by Brad Pitt's death scene which was just absolutely HORRID.

A bloke I worked with used to go and watch art house films by himself. A few times he was asked to watch new films and give feedback. Usually the director and producer would be there to answer questions. One such film was Pulp Fiction. I was so jealous. Another film was A Serbian Film. (Srpski film). Apparently nearly half the audience left. Some people waited in the bar and went back in to berate the director. My friend saw the whole uncut film he says it didn't really affect him until he was sat holding his newborn one evening.

Sophie's choice - couldn't sleep after watching it. Since becoming a parent it disturbs me even more and I haven't seen it for years!

moanyhole · 28/08/2016 11:29

wolf creek.watched it over ten years ago and still not over it. brilliantly done but so horrifying

goose1964 · 28/08/2016 11:29

Notting Hill - utter tripe
The Deer Hunter - felt emotionally shattered afterwards

TheNaze73 · 28/08/2016 11:30

Iamblossom · 28/08/2016 15:34

Cherry tree lane

Chained

Stevefromstevenage · 28/08/2016 15:35

Open Water it was the most unadulterated shite ever.

SnugglySnerd · 28/08/2016 15:46

Cloverfield. Partly because it's rubbish but mostly because all the handheld camera action gave me really bad motion sickness.

GrouchyKiwi · 28/08/2016 16:29

Thank you for this list of films I will never, ever watch.

My contributions are Melancholia, because it was depressing and boring, and the 28 Days/Weeks Later films. I was fine with the latter till I had children.

I watched a film years ago with a scene where mentally ill patients were in too hot baths and kicking (they had boards over the top). Had a nightmare with that scene in the other night but too scared to google. Nuns were involved as wel afair

milliemoon · 28/08/2016 19:18

My girl. It really disturbed me as a child

scissy · 28/08/2016 19:33

The Hobbit trilogy. That's nearly 10 hours of my life i won't get back (but I thought I should watch all of them in case they for better - they got worse!)

inaclearingstandsaboxer · 28/08/2016 19:36

Horrid Henry

MrsJayy · 28/08/2016 19:37

MrsJayy · 28/08/2016 19:38

When I woke up*

Dilligufdarling · 28/08/2016 19:38

American history X. The bit with the curb still haunts me 15 years on!

bikerlou · 28/08/2016 19:38

The Human Centipede, I have no idea what made me watch that horror.
I wish I hadn't :-(

Robinkitty · 28/08/2016 19:39

The human centipede

iklboo · 28/08/2016 19:55

Dilli - my toes just 'cringe curled' when you mentioned the curb scene in American History X.

acsec · 28/08/2016 19:55

Punch Drunk Love was so boring, and I have no idea what it's about even though I sat through that shite TWICE!

Turned off Prometheus.

Don't like horror - hated The Ring. My Little Eye was a hideously graphic torture film I wish I'd never seen too.

BobbinThreadbare123 · 28/08/2016 19:57

300: Rise of an Empire. What a waste of time!

acsec · 28/08/2016 20:08

Wtf - just read the plot of Serbian Film! That's fucking horrendous!

NoCapes · 28/08/2016 20:10

Just read a review of the Setbian Film where they describe 'the scene'
Why!?! Just why!?! Shock

Mine is 'The Hills Have Eyes' that seriously seriously deeply unsettled me
Horrific
