I am not a big fan of horror films but I can tolerate them with a pillow and someone to hide behind.
I have a few movies I seriously cannot bring myself to even view the trailer of for fear of being scarred for life.
They are in no particular order.
Human Centipede
The shining
And scarface.

What about you guys?

Mama Mia. Saw it once, but I'd rather watch any horror film than sit through that pile of shite again. Decent cast as well, I felt so embarrassed for them all Confused
That for me was the biggest horror movie ever made Grin

grumpysquash3 · 05/06/2016 20:05

Sophie's Choice. The book was excellent but hugely disturbing....I don't think I could bear to see it brought to life on the big screen.

reader77 · 05/06/2016 20:06

I had blocked Human Centipede out of my consciousness. Bother.

Likeaninjanow · 05/06/2016 20:06

I can't watch horror since having children. I would never watch The Human Centipede, and I'm still haunted by Sin City.

EverySongbirdSays · 05/06/2016 20:06

I can't watch Schindlers List even though I know I should because I know I will be in bits

f1ddlesticks · 05/06/2016 20:08

The Antichrist with Willem Dafoe - turned it off halfway through. Shudder...

Millyonthefloss · 05/06/2016 20:12

I agree about the Human Centipede and Saw. And any other "torture porn".

I also have a problem with the Care Bears.

DeathByMascara · 05/06/2016 20:12

This will have MN crying 'controlling, LTB!' but it's in line with the theme. We watched wolf creek 10 years ago one Sunday morning in bed, in the middle of Melbourne. I didn't sleep a wink for two nights and DH hasn't allowed me to watch any horrors since then! I want to watch them, but know I will have the shit scared out of me and that in itself isnt much fun!

To that end, paranormal activity would scare me so much that I can't/won't watch it. Any paranormal movie gives me the heebie jeebies.

YouveCatToBeKittenMe · 05/06/2016 20:13

I can't stand the final destination films they just make me really angry, I just don't get the appeal
Don't really watch horrors but I thought Blair witch was actually quite good

Rainbunny · 05/06/2016 20:13

Audition (Japanese horror movie). Cannot under any circumstances watch it ever again.

DrDreReturns · 05/06/2016 20:16

I'm another who can't watch Trainspotting. Before I had kids it didn't use to bother me, but now I just can't watch it because of the baby.

Leta86 · 05/06/2016 20:16

Green mile, requiem for a dream, 12 years a slave. Nightmares.

NapQueen · 05/06/2016 20:18

The Hills Have Eyes (the remake with her off Lost in it)

Home alone 2 - the bird lady, I've a massive pigeon phobia.

nuttymango · 05/06/2016 20:21

any horror films plus the passion - mel gibson's version.

Wolpertinger · 05/06/2016 20:22

Dumbo. I don't understnad how it's supposed to be a kids' movie - that baby elephant is abused and traumatised!

I had fair warning that Bambi would be sad but nobody told me how upsetting Dumbo was going to be.

I'm not over it now.

BobbinThreadbare123 · 05/06/2016 20:23

Don't do horror films. I have no interest in Saw etc. I can't watch Blair Witch or any like that as they make me feel nauseated from the wobbly camera!

I don't really like rom coms either. Puke.

TheHuntingOfTheSarky · 05/06/2016 20:23

For some reason AI affects me on a very deep level and I could never watch it again, I cried for hours after I saw it.

Also Shawshank Redemption upsets me a lot.

Could never watch Schindlers List, Apocalypse Now or anything similar.

An ex BF made me sit through a lot of Pacino type films, Godfather, Casino etc. Not many of them bothered me apart from a scene in one where a young guy gets his hand slammed in a freezer, that did my head in.

Have never watched a proper horror and never will. No appeal whatsoever.

RJnomore1 · 05/06/2016 20:24

Dumbo, bambi, watership down...

CigarsofthePharoahs · 05/06/2016 20:26

I made the mistake of watching Sinister as the Netflix blurb made it sound more of a dark crime film.
It wasn't. Gave me nightmares for weeks on end, it was just an excuse for some real nastiness. I kept watching in the hope of some sort of sensible ending and there wasn't one.
Most of the films on my avoid list have been mentioned, slasher horror stuff and overly cheerful musicals.
I have no intention of re-watching any of the films I was forced to watch as a child, the likes of Marry Poppins, Chitty Chiity Shit Bang and others of that ilk. I hated them, found them cheesy and patronising even as a child. I really hated people telling me that as I was a girl I should love them.
Er, no. Thankfully neither of my sons seem remotely interested and when I asked my 5 year old if he wanted to watch Frozen, he said no. Phew, another cruddy offering to not have to sit through!

Dothedance · 05/06/2016 20:26

Being John Malcovich. Gave me the absolute creeps, had leave the cinema half way through.

spanky2 · 05/06/2016 20:26

Bambi, Watership down, Chicken Run any animal film. I'm really soppy about animals.
Saw, Friday the 13th, any blood and guts film.
I wouldn't watch Platoon again. Kevin Bacon crushing the man's skull...
The Deer Hunter. Dh said I wouldn't like it. Same for Clockwork Orange. The eyeball scene...blergh eyeballs!
1984. It sucks any life out of me. I watched it when I was at school and I still haven't got over the crushing of Winston.

Debbiedoradooo · 05/06/2016 20:27

The boy is the striped pyjamas was horrendous to read so can't imagine watching it. Watched poltergeist as a child and it traumatised me! Not a fan of bambi either

1Potato2 · 05/06/2016 20:27

Bloody hell. I've lived in ignorant bliss. Just Youtubed the trailer for Human Centipede. WTF?! And there are a further 2 films! Dear god.

Debbiedoradooo · 05/06/2016 20:27

What films would you recommend

Gardenbirdy · 05/06/2016 20:29

I'd never willingly watch The Wedding Date again. That's 90 minutes of my life I'll never get back Hmm
