I am not a big fan of horror films but I can tolerate them with a pillow and someone to hide behind.
I have a few movies I seriously cannot bring myself to even view the trailer of for fear of being scarred for life.
They are in no particular order.
Human Centipede
The shining
And scarface.

What about you guys?

Debbiedoradooo I couldn't sleep after watching The Boy in the Striped Pajamas.

nuttymango · 05/06/2016 20:35

I watched Arachnophobia not so long back, WTF was I thinking? Ditto Jaws.

expatinscotland · 05/06/2016 20:35

Sinister. Turned it off not long after it started.

ShiftyLookingBadger · 05/06/2016 20:39

Any slash em up/gory horror films are an instant no for me. I love spooky/supernatural horror though!

Also, hell to the no re. Sophie's Choice!

Leigh1980 · 05/06/2016 20:41

I've watched Serbian Film (Truly horrific!) and Human Centipede 1 & 2 which were equally gross, although the 2nd was far worse. But the worst ive ever seen was Cannibal Holocaust which ive seen 3 times with 3 different people and I still can't bear it!

The movie I refuse to watch is Plague Dogs, waaaay to heavy and sad!

GoudyStout · 05/06/2016 20:42

Anything with Adam Sandler - with the exception of The Wedding Singer.

AppleMagic · 05/06/2016 20:43

I hate being scared following a real life traumatic experience so avoid anything scary or with suspense (films/ roller coasters/books etc).

Wishfulmakeupping · 05/06/2016 20:44

Love actually or any other films that are mini stories loosely linked together and not remotely interesting...new years eve etc

Niggit · 05/06/2016 20:45

I've never seen The Fox and the Hound, and I don't think I ever will - I only have to see a trailer and I start to fill up.

I've seen Threads a couple of times, but never again. I think it actually gets harder to watch as it (and I) get older.

And me and DH walked out of the new Starsky and Hutch after about 20 minutes - I've never seen such an awful attempt at filmography.

FlemCandango · 05/06/2016 20:50

Can't believe no one has mentioned the French film Irreversible yet. It is truly horrible and the scenes play out in reverse order so you endure the trauma of the terrible violent transgressive acts carried out by/ happening to the characters, right at the start then you follow them through more tender moments to the 'end' a lovely peaceful scene marred by your knowledge of what happens later. It tore me up and I was pregnant and alone while watching it. Two things you really should not be watching this. Traumatic.

FirstWeTakeManhattan · 05/06/2016 20:50

Anything gruesome, sadistically violent or with any torture scenes.

I love spooky ghost stories, but I just can't watch any of the above. I'm not particularly delicate but anything like that makes me ill and can affect me for years, no kidding.

Lovemabubba · 05/06/2016 20:51

Silent Hill, have only seen it once, never again! shudders

Hedgeh0g · 05/06/2016 20:51

An English teacher showed us part of Threads when we were about 13, as part of a nuclear themed project. Still can't quite believe she got away with that, I know I wasn't the only one who was traumatised!

LastGirlOnTheLeft · 05/06/2016 20:52

I love horror and they don't bother me at all...well, as long as they aren't nasty and too gratuitous. I hated Martyrs as watching young women get treated like punchbags is not fun or interesting or anything good AT ALL. Hated it.

I hate surreal movies, like David Lynch's films. They make me feel queasy.

Straw Dogs - all sorts of nastiness.

The Green Mile is a great book and the film doesn't disappoint even if you read the book first.

Madam I think Kirk Cameron's sister is one of those surrendered wives. The one who used to be cool on Full House. Strange family.

pollyglot · 05/06/2016 20:58

Sophie's Choice. Watched it when dd was a few weeks old (I also have 2 ds who are a little older). I was an emotional wreck for ages after, couldn't sleep. It was so awful that I could never watch it again, even years later. Totally visceral.

guitarguy2112 · 05/06/2016 20:58

spanky2 Kevin Bacon wasn't in Platoon. Maybe you're getting him mixed up with Willem Dafoe

knittingwithnettles · 05/06/2016 20:59

Clockwork Orange. I was forced to watch this in a French cinema by mistake on a study trip with several other 16/17 year olds, for some reason we had gone to see 1001 Dalmations but Clockwork Orange was on. Subtitled.
I would refuse to watch most Horror films. Any 18's I tend to avoid. I remember hiding in the loo during Quentin Tarantino, although I could see that some of it was funny and clever.

knittingwithnettles · 05/06/2016 21:01

Oh and The Fly...Jeff Goldblum who I usually love.

PirateFairy45 · 05/06/2016 21:01

Clockwork orange

SoThatHappened · 05/06/2016 21:02

Horror films such as the Ring, Blair With Project are laughable. How anyone found that too much to bear is beyond me. They are just stupid.

The one DVD I watched once and never want to see it again, is The Piano. The story of a Polish musician in WW2, wonderfully played by Adrian Brody. All the misery, the torture, the death, the suffering, well...it was a true story. It disturbed me in a profound way.
