I am not a big fan of horror films but I can tolerate them with a pillow and someone to hide behind.
I have a few movies I seriously cannot bring myself to even view the trailer of for fear of being scarred for life.
They are in no particular order.
Human Centipede
The shining
And scarface.

What about you guys?

I can't believe people are saying Jaws. It is an amazing film....taking the tale of three men on a boat with all its classy, innocent, genteel humour and turning it upside down into something raw and savage yet ultimately uplifting and glorious.

Go back and see it!! Really take it in...the immense performances, the thrilling suspense and stupendous cinematography, the fantastic characterisation. It's awesome!

hobbisl38 · 06/06/2016 21:31

Salems Lot with David Soul. Bloody terrifying.

LastGirlOnTheLeft · 06/06/2016 21:40

The vampire boy at the window was scary. I can't remember much about the rest....apart from someone quickly and desperately making a DIY crucifix whilst staring at a dead guy on a gurney....just anxiously waiting second by second for him to wake up as the undead.

Salem's Lot was a massive TV event IIRC back in the late seventies.

Twelve Years A Slave - and I know I really should.

I'll never watch Requiem For A Dream
again.

Girlwiththedragontattoo · 06/06/2016 21:46

I like most horror but for some reason even though it was pretty naff house of a thousand corpses really bothered me!

Walking in on a scary part of Stephen Kings it when I was about 10 freaked me out for years until I watched it as an adult and realised it was crap!

I really don't know why I just googled Serbian movie it sounds horrendous

Girlwiththedragontattoo · 06/06/2016 21:47

The matrix really messes with my head but always felt like life isn't real so that could be why!

UptownFunk00 · 06/06/2016 22:22

Anything that makes you jump
A Serbian Film

Watched Human Centipede - vile, but not scary.
Hostel and Saw the same but not quite as twisted.

Nothing depicting violence/death of children.

sooperdooper · 06/06/2016 22:27

Tyranasaur - it's the most disturbing film I've ever seen, wish I'd never watch it :(

Requiem for a dream comes pretty close

But I can't physicslly bring myself to watch Me Before You - the book was so bloody awful Angry

RebelandaStunner · 06/06/2016 22:32

Kes I have watched it and was devastated at the ending.

MrsSnufkin · 06/06/2016 23:01

Yes, Kes is heartbreaking. I'll never watch that again, for all its merit sobs

SoThatHappened · 07/06/2016 17:18

Boy In The Striped Pyjamas didnt affect me as much as The Pianist.

Divine justice as my mother said. Slightly harsh.

Wordsaremything · 09/06/2016 21:43

Anything with violence - usually gratuitous.
Bond films
Massively hugely over rated Harry bloody potter
The sound of music. That's probably the worst actually.

milkbottle · 09/06/2016 21:44

Marley and Me

Wordsaremything · 09/06/2016 21:47

Oh god Bambi. I became hysterical and I think this is why Ive never been truly at ease in a cinema since.

LastGirlOnTheLeft · 09/06/2016 22:22

The Sound Of Music?? How very dare you!Grin

Now THAT is the film with everything! A wholesome leading lady (come on, she's a nun, well...postulant), a handsome leading man, catchy songs, cute kids, scheming Nazis, a billowy white wedding in a Cathedral no less, a cad, a thunderstorm, gorgeous city AND country scenery.....and a magnificent ball!

What's not to love? In fact I would have to say this, along with The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974) is my fave film of all time.

The road
Anything 'torture porn' ( what the hell is to enjoy there??)

SoHereItIs2016 · 14/06/2016 19:36

By the above I mean stuff like Hostel, Saw etc!!!!

gingerboy1912 · 14/06/2016 20:07

What I won't watch again.

Passion of the Christ. You know it not going up end well and the whipping scene is vile .

12 years a slave. So upsetting watching the mother being separated from her two children as if because the were black their feelings for their children were less important and would soon be forgotten.

Django unchained. Brutal fighting scene where two men have to fight to the death with other men sat watching.

grannycake · 14/06/2016 20:09

Saw Bambi in school. Horrifying and really upsetting. Never allowed my kids to see it but no one warned me about Dumbo - cue me and two children sobbing on sofa. They got over it but I am still a total wuss over films. Used to buy a DVD that the whole family could watch Christmas evening and as they got older I became the problem. Told me we'd be Ok with city slickers but they forgot the baby cow in the river. More tears. However, I can read the most harrowing books and be fine

Ironfloor · 19/06/2016 19:18

For me, it's Dirty Dancing.

supersoftcuddlytoys · 20/06/2016 08:37

I could 'physically' bring myself to watch anything.. Mentally though, anything with Nicolas cage would be a def' no go for me...

icecoldlemons · 20/06/2016 08:49

The Song of Bernadette- Jesus it was boring
Any musical that I've seen before- I'd rather die than watch Mamma Mia again

Newbienew · 04/07/2016 22:46

I've never watched the exorcist. My mum told me not to when I was about 15..I'm in my forties now !

JohnJ80 · 20/07/2016 21:28

Salo by Pasolini. It's repugnant.
