Halloween always freaks me out but the one with that makes me jump the most is insidious Grin

I've seen Annabelle and really can't understand what the fuss was? Anyone else feel it was a major let down?

QueenMolotov · 20/05/2016 19:54

Conyo, is that the X Files episode that has a Hills Have Eyes vibe? Where th guy wheels his mum/sister/whatever from under the bed?

TrionicLettuce · 20/05/2016 19:54

10 Rillington Place. It remains the only film to ever give me nightmares and I probably watch more horror than any other genre.

It's not a film but the episode of the early 70s BBC series Dead of Night called 'A Woman Sobbing' messed me up for days.

ExplodingCarrots · 20/05/2016 19:54

The conjuring. Scariest film I've seen in years.

The descent. It's probably not the scariest to some people but it scares the shit out of me and I have nightmares about it Grin.

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHorrid · 20/05/2016 19:55

The Ring is scary. I watched it just before I went away with work. I was alone in my hotel room with the worlds biggest to facing the bed. I didn't sleep well that night.

Event horizon is really scary too.

QueenMolotov · 20/05/2016 19:55

Bean, there's just something so old-school horror about Hellraiser. And it was the first proper scary horror film that I saw that was set in England: the mundane setting was very unnerving.

ExplodingCarrots · 20/05/2016 19:56

Conyo, I'm watching the X files for the first time and I saw this episode the other day. Freaked me the hell out. Also the episode with the bug man who eats people's livers

SleepingTiger · 20/05/2016 19:56

The Jeremy Kyle Show. Shit myself every time.

Seriously though - Mama.

coughingbean · 20/05/2016 19:56

Agreed!

QueenMolotov · 20/05/2016 19:57

And Shutter Island. I didn't sleep the night after watching that.

GraysAnalogy · 20/05/2016 19:58

Sinister.

I watch all sorts, love scary films and probably watch 1 or 2 a week. I went to the pictures watching this and whilst the overall premise of the film isn't scary, the sounds and the video tape recording in this film are so very very creepy.

As I said I love scary films, but this one I actually felt sick. I was that creeped out by the music alone I felt really terrible. I had to go to the loo to have a break from it.

Now I've watched it on TV at home and it's not even scary. But in that pictures with the acoustics and everything.. shudder.

Wombat87 · 20/05/2016 19:58

Inscideous... The only films that have ever scared me. Horrific.

coughingbean · 20/05/2016 19:59

I loved shutter island, but the fact that i am in love with Leonardo dicaprio and have read the book may have helped Grin

OccultGnuToo · 20/05/2016 19:59

The Hitcher -the original Rutguer Haur (? spelling) version. I had a friend that used to pick up hitchhikers, after I watched that she was forced to listen to a very forceful argument from me that caused her to stop doing so.

And the made for tv Salem's Lot - mainly the scene when the delivery men take the empty (or is it?) coffin in to the cellar. Nothing actually happens but the sense of it-just-might freaked me out for a long time.

GraysAnalogy · 20/05/2016 19:59

Is Shutter Island supposed to be scary? Genuinely interested, was you scared because of the mind-fuck twist and that made you sleepless?

coughingbean · 20/05/2016 20:00

greys sinister freaked me out so much i had to sleep with the tv on for around a month!

coughingbean · 20/05/2016 20:01

Also want to add Creep.
Although its not 'jumpy' scary its a damn good film if you love a horror

billabye · 20/05/2016 20:03

Wolf Creek for me. It's supposed to be based on true events Shock

QueenMolotov · 20/05/2016 20:03

OMG, WOLF CREEK IS TERRIFYING!

WishesAndPixieDust · 20/05/2016 20:03

Battle royale - not because it's 'scary' but it's an amazing horror I feel like it should be mentioned Grin

coughingbean · 20/05/2016 20:04

Ah forgot wolf creek! I was so scared! I am clearly a glutton for punishment!

coughingbean · 20/05/2016 20:05

Yes wishes LOVE battle royale!

familysizepack · 20/05/2016 20:07

Yip. Insidious. I think because it's a wee boy.

I don't think I could watch it again!
