I am ordering some dvds that I enjoyed when younger and I am using my children as an excuse to watch them again .

So far I have got

Ghostbusters
Stand by me
The Goonies

I know there are many more but I can't think.

Boys are 9 and 11 if that helps .

Thank you

My Dcs (roughly the same age as yours) recently loved Raiders of the Lost Ark. They found the melty-face bit hilarious, rather than terrifying (as I did when I was their age)

They were too frightened by the next Indiana Jones though. The grabby heart bit was a bit much.

Was surprised how much bad language there was in The Goonies. I just kept saying to them "you didn't hear that'.

How about The Princess Bride?

Back to the Future

TwiceAsNiceAsIceAndaSlice · 30/04/2015 14:45

Back To The Future trilogy? 8yr old ds really enjoyed them.

Howlongtillbedtime · 30/04/2015 14:45

Excellent , Raiders of the lost ark ! I had forgotten about that one .

I have just looked at the goonies again and it is a 15 , that has surprised me , I suppose it's the swearing , I assume yours weren't scarred for life after watching ?

Howlongtillbedtime · 30/04/2015 14:46

Bill and Ted.

ThreeQuartersEmpty · 30/04/2015 14:47

Gremlins.

slippermaiden · 30/04/2015 14:47

E.T. And back to the future! Mine loved both of these. Bernie was rubbish tho.

TheGashlycrumbTinies · 30/04/2015 14:47

And remember the scene in Ghostbusters where Sigourney Weaver is possessed… Wink

slippermaiden · 30/04/2015 14:47

Herbie was rubbish, not Bernie!

BunnyLebowski · 30/04/2015 14:47

YY to Indy. Just not the 4th one.

Jurassic Park.
Labyrinth?

HelenF350 · 30/04/2015 14:48

Short circuit

TwiceAsNiceAsIceAndaSlice · 30/04/2015 14:48

Ds also enjoyed

Karate Kid
ET
All the Indiana Jones (although I wasn't keen on some of the content and dh overruled me )
Star Wars

Howlongtillbedtime · 30/04/2015 14:49

Oh yes ! Gremlins would work I reckon , I don't think they would cope with E.T (well it makes me sob anyway Blush

Flight of the Navigator

lemonyone · 30/04/2015 14:49

Howlong - my DCs are used to being around me with accidental swearing! They now say "I didn't hear that". It's a catchphrase in our house.

I have a funny feeling Stand By Me is a bit dodgy too in a couple of bits. Not seen it in a while though.
Yes - the Goonies was fine, but there were several points where I was about to go "ok, that's enough of that"!

They loved ET.

Sizzlesthedog · 30/04/2015 14:49

I love Ferris Buellers day off, but it might be too old for them.

Spell99 · 30/04/2015 14:50

The Princess Bride
WIllow

Contraryish · 30/04/2015 14:50

I bought Gremlins for mine and found it was a 15! E.T. they love! (at 8 and 10)

Blarblarblar · 30/04/2015 14:50

Star Wars, labyrinth DC 5watched the other day and loved it. Willow,

Sizzlesthedog · 30/04/2015 14:50

I agree stand by me has very dodgy bits.

massivearse · 30/04/2015 14:50

Gotta be 'The Dark Crystal' surely!

lemonyone · 30/04/2015 14:52

YY to Bill and Ted. It's really dated now but my DCs liked it.
They also loved Waynes World, but again, it is a bit risqué in parts.

Gremlins scared the shit out of them. I think it's quite sweary too. DS couldn't cope with Jurrasic Park - too intense. DD loved it but hid for quite a bit.

Both Karate Kids (ancient and modern) have been enjoyed.

Blarblarblar · 30/04/2015 14:55

OMG Dark Crystal might be the most terrifying film ever had to leave cinema when I was 11 watching it. I am a bit of a wimp though Blush
