I am ordering some dvds that I enjoyed when younger and I am using my children as an excuse to watch them again .

So far I have got

Ghostbusters
Stand by me
The Goonies

I know there are many more but I can't think.

Boys are 9 and 11 if that helps .

Thank you

SquinkiesRule · 30/04/2015 18:25

Night of the Comet.
Indiana Jones
Encino Man
George of the Jungle (who doesn't like Brendan Fraiser)
Bio Dome
Son in Law (I used to find Paulie Shaw very funny)

prepperpig · 30/04/2015 20:28

Oh Oh Oh!

Flight of the Navigator
Explorers
Space Camp
The Boy Who could Fly

all great 80s films

Tryingtocoverthegrey · 30/04/2015 20:29

Drop dead Fred is a must I love it.

Flight of the navigator
Howard the duck
Harry and the hendersons (Bigfoot)

Are we all children of the 80s by any chance? Grin

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 30/04/2015 20:43

I'm a child of the 80s and never seen most of these! I remember seeing Jaws at primary school film club (equivalent of year 7) and being terrified, in a good way though.

How has no one suggested Cool Runnings?!

Second, third (?) Mighty Ducks

Also loved Uncle Buck and Sister Act

Tweezertastic · 13/05/2015 20:29

Bill and Ted 1 and 2!

Lweji · 13/05/2015 20:33

In addition to other suggestions, DS likes The Terminator series.

I tried the Matrix the other day, and it was ok, but we haven't seen the end yet.

Teenwolf

ooohsopink · 14/05/2015 01:32

Any of the Night At The Museum films - and my favourite even as an adult - No Batteries Required.

Classic films are good too: If they like animals then Born Free is a great film and for a bit of action and history, The Great Escape (relevant at the moment too)

OsloGin · 14/05/2015 01:49

Adventures of Baron Munchausen
Time bandits

Both PG I think. Oh and both Terry Gilliam films!

whomovedmychocolate · 14/05/2015 06:48

Labyrinth. If only for David Bowie in those tights.

BadgersArse · 14/05/2015 06:50

Good luck op
My experience of younger kids and old films is that theirs slow and dated

druscilliah · 14/05/2015 07:24

You have GOT to get a copy of The Labyrinth, my 8 yo dd watched it with me and loved it so much she stole my copy!! Grin

FirstOfficerDouglasRichardson · 14/05/2015 07:35

It may have already been mentioned but 'Flight of the Navigator' was a childhood favourite of mine.

ArtfulPuss · 14/05/2015 16:40

We are in a similar zone, having regular 'family film nights' with DCs (10, 8 and 5) since the start of this year.

Our lot loved The Mask, Night at the Museum and Jumanji. Free Willy went down well too, and Home Alone. Favourite so far, though: Daddy Day Care!

MuddlingMackem · 14/05/2015 16:48

Ours loved 'Daddy Day Care', ArtfulPuss, and DD loves 'Baby's Day Out'.

DS 11 has enjoyed The Matrix but we felt DD 8 is still too young.

How about 'Tron' and 'Tron Legacy', they're favourites of our DS.
