YY to Wedding Date where he pushes her to the car but doesn't kiss her.... swoon.

YY to Officer and Gentleman and the carrying out the factory.

Troy: When Achilles gives (the cousin, cant remember her name now) the cloth to wash with, and she throws it back at him...........

abyssiniam8 · 31/03/2015 06:54

Oh and in Shall We Dance when Richard Gere comes up the escalator in the shopping mall wearing his dance outfit and holding a red rose.....

Whowouldfardelsbear · 31/03/2015 07:20

Clockwork Orange where they're walking along the canal and Alex shows his 'droogs' who's boss.

Amadeus where Mozart totally shows up Salieri by improving on his 'welcome march' for the King

The Good, the Bad and The Ugly - where they find the graveyard and run through it.

somuchtosortout · 31/03/2015 08:49

Thelma and Louise, when they hold hands and drive off the cliff!!

Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, the ending

Billy Elliot, when the dad gets the money together for the audition

I was also going to say Midnight Cowboy!

Far from Heaven, when her friend realises she has been 'fraternising' with a black man and turns her back on her, meaning this beat the stigma of having a gay husband.

Wizard of Oz - always cry when she is singing Over the Rainbow. I think mostly because of knowing what happened to Judy Garland after that!

40 Year old virgin - the chest waxing scene! Watched it on a plane and half of the plane got a fit of the giggles all at the same time.

Can we have Mr Darcy coming out of the lake even if it is not a movie???
:)

somuchtosortout · 31/03/2015 08:53

Sorry I'll stop hogging the thread….
Just wanted to add one of my very favourites,
Muriel's wedding, every time the sister says 'You're terrible Muriel'

FeijoaSundae · 31/03/2015 08:58

If we're throwing Mr Darcy into the mix, it has to be him striding purposefully out of Pemberey with damp hair immediately afterwards, looking for Lizzie and the Gardiners.

abyssiniam8 · 31/03/2015 09:06

Oh my, how did I forget about Mr Darcy. Blush

gah I wouldn't mind if Mr Darcy came striding over to me at dawn with that 'take me now' look on his face, have to admit it, I probably would Wink

BalloonSlayer · 31/03/2015 09:17

In Shadowlands when Joy (Debra Winger) dies, the camera just suddenly draws quickly away from her face, through the roof, away from the house up into the sky, as if you are given the perspective of her soul leaving her body.

somuchtosortout · 31/03/2015 09:46

Ok, me again.

The remains of the day, the part where they meet on the pier.
(Think it's a pier?)

ZingEasteryName · 31/03/2015 09:46

somuch

yes, you can have Mr Darcy lake dipping.
But if we venture into tv I must have dibs on Gabriel Macht in Suits. (I dare you not to g oogle him!Grin )

Elsashmelsa · 31/03/2015 09:48

The Life of David Gale - the reveal at the end. Awesome film. Very few people I know have seen it, but when I persuade them, they love it. Very cleverly done. (Kate Winslet and Kevin Spacey)

Springtulip · 31/03/2015 10:19

The scene in Schindler List when he gets the guards to turn the water hoses on the train, pretending it's to add to their suffering but really to ease it. It's the goodness in the midst of all the evil.

thenightsky · 31/03/2015 10:38

Elsashmelsa The Life of David Gale is one of my favourite ever films! I'm always recommending it people who believe we should bring back the death penalty.

It always surprises me how few people have heard of it really. It gives such a powerful message.

HouseAtreides · 31/03/2015 10:56

Love the end of Stardust when Tristan goes back to see Victoria and drops her on the floor, then shames Humphrey with his swordsmanship :) and Humphrey's little wink to Captain Shakespeare at the coronation! Actually all of RDN's scenes as Shakespeare are perfect.

Maleficent "Hello beastie"

merrygoround51 · 31/03/2015 11:28

There is a movie called 'This is my Father' set in rural Ireland in the 1950's. It involves a couple and pregnancy and you can imagine how that panned out back then.

Its unimaginably sad and really rings true and there is a scene towards the end that was so moving that I literally had to wait until the cinema emptied and the blubbering stopped before I left.

AngharadRedesmere · 31/03/2015 12:02

Gosh, I have so many.

Off the top of my head.

Big- When Tom Hanks, and his boss who owns the toy company that he works for, are playing Chopsticks on that giant keyboard in the department store. I love it.

Shawshank- When Red greets Andy on the beach at the very end of the film. It is so moving. They are both finally free.

GWTW- When Scarlett is scrabbling around in the dirt for food, and she cannot find anything but wonky radishes. She rises up off the ground with her left hand curled into a fist, held up to the sky and says. "As God is my witness...as God is my witness, they're not going to lick me" "I'm going to live through this, and when it's all over, I'll never be hungry again" "No, nor any of my folks" "If I have to lie, steal, cheat, or kill...as God as my witness I'll never be hungry again" End of act one. Grin

I now have a list of 38 films I want to watch (either for the first time or again) thanks to this thread! So yeah, if anyone wants me I'll be off doing that...

ZingEasteryName · 31/03/2015 13:42

ah yes to Floor Piano scene in Big!
When I was a kid I actually watched it in slow motion over and over again so I could take down the notes so I could learn to play it on the Piano.
I didn't know then that it was called Chopsticks and was Youtube or Google (and I'm only 40!Shock ) but I was so desperate to learn it! and I still canSmile

also when he wakes up in the morning - that sequence is fab, you really don't think of him as Tom Hanks, but totally get immersed in the story.
he is fantastic, isn't he?

TalkinPeace · 31/03/2015 13:46

If ever you want to recreate the scene from Big for yourself ....

Has anyone seen "Love Comes Softly" ?

there's a snow storm scene that is shocking, because it gets really bad so quickly you can feel the sheer panic rising in the pit of your stomach..you're so glad when it's over

it is a beautiful film, really lovely
