Oh I forgot, the funeral at the end of 'Amadeus'.

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHorrid · 30/03/2015 20:08

The start of Up. Cried my eyes out.

But the makeover scene in Team America makes me cry with laughter. Especially the sucide hammer.

East of Eden - the kiss at the top of the ferris wheel.
The Wild One - that last scene with Brando's beautiful unexpected smile.
The Third Man - last shot as she walks straight past him staring ahead as if he didn't exist.

Cool Runnings. Where they pick up the bobsled and carry it over the finish line, and the slow hand clap starts...

Almost anytime a slow handclap starts!

The Color Purple when Shug finds Celies letter from Nettie and reads it to her. Then later on when they find the rest. Plus when Nettie returns from Africa and has Celies two children that her stepfather stole from her and sold to a childless couple. Oh and when Shug sings to her in the Juke joint and makes her realise that she's a person worthy of love. Or when Celies stands up for herself and leaves her abuser. Or when Shug bursts in to the church singing along with her town band and the church choir. Or when Miss Sofia is knocked off her feet in front of a baying mob for standing up to the mayor. No film ever makes me sob more.

Rocky - when he makes it running up the stairs. And the end - "Adriaaaan!"

8 Mile - when Rabbit wins the last rap battle at the end.

The Bridges of Madison County - when Meryl wants to get out of the car at the traffic light and Clint waits for her for a bit and then pulls away and her pain is palpable.

Schindler's List - when the maid is giving Goethe a manicure and you know if she nicks him he'll shoot her. Such tension.

Midnight Cowboy - when Dustin Hoffman dies on the bus.

Sgtmajormummy · 30/03/2015 22:12

The Legend of 1900- all of it, but the piano dancing on the ocean, the duel with Jellyroll Morton and the pain of falling in love expressed in music (do, re, mi #so...) make it unforgettable. And Tim Roth couldn't even play the piano!

ZingEasteryName · 30/03/2015 22:16

True Romance - the Sicilian scene between Dennis Hopper and Christopher Walken.
the moment he realises he is not getting out of this and decides to not beg but stick it to him.
just brilliant

The beginning of Up... Amazing.

The long shot in Goodfellas walking through the restaurant and also the bit where he picks her up and she's crying, and then he pistol whips her neighbour.

The bit in Roman Holiday where she says 'is this the elevator?'

All of Jurassic Park... Perfection.

Thanks for the pen

Its dark, we're wearing sunglasses

Spoiler:

The Hunger Games when Rue dies and Katniss covers her with flowers. And then just before she walks away she gives the District 12 salute straight to the camera and everyone in Rue's district salutes back before seriously kicking off, and that is when you know she has put the rebellion into motion.

GertiesMum · 30/03/2015 22:42

Love Story - "love means never having to say you are sorry" scene with father at the end.

Deer Hunter - love the start wedding scene at the start, great atmosphere!

Ryan's Daughter - tragic, but like the scene at the end where she gets into the carriage with her husband.

ZingEasteryName · 30/03/2015 22:43

7even - when Victor moves.
I screamed

TheWindowDonkey · 30/03/2015 23:16

Monsoon Wedding, when Pk Dubey sits in the rain in a circle of candles with a heart of marigolds in his hands, as a proposal. Makes me tear up just thinking about it, very sweet and touching scene.

Hillbilly71 · 31/03/2015 00:01

The bit in Nanny McPhee when the dad comes back from war and walks down a field to greet his overjoyed family.
The medley of songs on top of an elephant in Moulin Rouge and also 'Come What May' at the end.
Just saw Cinderella and the bit where she and the prince are dancing was spectacular because of the dress - couldn't decide whether they had digitally altered the flowingness of it as it seemed too perfect.
Bit in Starburst where the star glows when she's dancing with Christian on the ship.
I'm so soppy.

MargotLovedTom · 31/03/2015 00:09

Gross Pointe Blank when Martin holds the baby at the school reunion and you can see him melt, and all the while "Under Pressure" reaches a crescendo in the background.

PrettyGirlsMakeGraves · 31/03/2015 00:11

pretty much the whole of The Notebook. Shock swoon at Ryan Gosling crawls back under rock

ZingEasteryName · 31/03/2015 00:12

I love John Cusack

which reminds me of the big movie reveal scene in Amareica's Sweethearts

MargotLovedTom · 31/03/2015 00:17

Love the Cusack too. It would be a cliche to say the boombox scene in Say Anything Wink. I love the scene at end on the plane.

Also love The Sure Thing with the stabbing the cans of beer and getting royally pissed.

Bridges of Madison County for me too. Same scene when she wants to get out of the car. The pain and sense of "what ifs "throughout the film are very powerful. I cry / gulp / do some gaggy snorts of sobbing, every time I see this film.

Snoopysimaginaryfriend · 31/03/2015 05:30

The Ed Harris scene in Glengarry Glenross where he loses it and shouts 'fuck you, I'm going to arizona'.

The end of the Misfits where Marilyn monroe and Clark gable drive off towards the stars, quite fitting as it was the last movie for both of them.

FeijoaSundae · 31/03/2015 05:48

Sense and Sensibility, when Colonel Brandon says, 'give me an occupation Miss Dashwood, or I shall run mad.'

GWTW when Rhett rises up from the sofa, with the low whistle and sardonic grin. And the red taffeta petticoat exchange.

Some Like it Hot, when Josephine's faux-millionaire-ing to impress Sugar, and Daphne says, 'bring your yacht!!' And when Sugar comes sashaying down the carriage, singing Running Wild and the hip flask slips out. Oh, and the type O running gag throughout.

The Viennese waltz in The Sound of Music.

The King's Speech when it nails it, and Lionel is so proud of him.
