I loved The Shawshank Redemption and Donnie Darko, but the film I could watch again and again is Napoleon Dynamite. Could probably watch it a couple of times in one day and still love it.

GnocchiNineDoors · 23/08/2012 16:18

And I always get a lump in my throat at the end of Big when Tom Hanks turns into a little boy again and goes home. It's his Mum screaming 'JOOOOSSSHHHHH,' makes me all chokey.

I always wonder how explained his way out of it though!

Binkyridesagain · 23/08/2012 16:22

Who ever mentioned John Cusack thank you, it's reminded me of an old film of his where I fell in love with him, Say Anything is now on my list, I hope I am stirred once again Grin

I'll shutup now.I promise.Blush

limitedperiodonly · 23/08/2012 16:31

I like La Reine Margot for the sex and violence and history and stuff in it though the subtitles are a bit of a fag.

It would be like The Borgias de nos jours if only it was made today instead of about 20 years ago.

I'm sure Leslie agrees.

what's that Peter Gabriel song in Say Anything binky? I don't really care too much for the film but I love that song.

Binkyridesagain · 23/08/2012 16:34

I don't know, I haven't watched it in over 20 years, I'm hoping I'll get the DVD for a couple of quid, then if it's shit I haven't lost anything. I fell in live with Cusack because he reminded me of my first love who I just broken up with when i first watched it.
I'm now off to google the soundtrack

WithACherryOnTop · 23/08/2012 16:36

The song is 'In Your Eyes'.

Binkyridesagain · 23/08/2012 16:36

Got it 'in your eyes'

squoosh · 23/08/2012 16:36

I think In Your Eyes is the song in Say Anything.

evilgiraffe · 23/08/2012 16:40

The best three films ever made are:

  1. Jurassic Park
  2. Terminator 2
  3. Jaws

Enjoy!

limitedperiodonly · 23/08/2012 16:40

Thanks withacherry.

I like Dog Day Afternoon too.

And Shane. 'Shane, Shane, Shane'.

I think he dies in the end. And I bet he shagged Jean Arthur.

Kayano · 23/08/2012 16:41

The princess bride

limitedperiodonly · 23/08/2012 16:42

Thanks to everyone else for In Your Eyes, even if I can't get the cheesy George Benson one out my head now.

EauRouge · 23/08/2012 16:42

WithACherryOnTop, what was your list like before you narrowed it down? Grin

Lesley, I'm afraid I don't like arty or high-brow films but I'd love to know what your favourites are to see if I've heard of them.

My favourites-

Jaws
The Usual Suspects
The Shawshank Redemption
Evil Dead
The Jerk

Binkyridesagain · 23/08/2012 16:45

I can't believe so many like The Princess Bride, whenever I mention it to anyone they always give me a funny look, as though I've made it up.
