The upside of that rainstorm, Errol, was that, when I went out yesterday morning to clean my doorsteps and windowsills, they had been thoroughly washed by the storm and were pristine!

I must have come back because I asked a question a few days ago, but no update on any findings.

I am ok with that as long as I can tell my old friend she doesn't have to stock gerbil snacks like pumpkin seeds and the odd hazelnut. She's most accommodating.

My garden furniture was also thoroughly cleaned by the storm. It was spotless. One in the eye for the seagulls!

The devil take your seasonal camaraderie. I have been leaving for work before sunrise for the last fortnight and I will be getting home after sunset in the next fortnight. It feels a bit sad as it happens but it doesn't bother me once it becomes solidly leave in the dark, get home in the dark. And there are a lot of upsides.

No 🤣. Pirates aren’t big on decorative pumpkins. Although they are likely the best candidates for slicing them with their swords for pie purposes…

I meant it was already pitch black out there.
And I was enjoying the seasonal tradition of sharing the well worn phrase. It was my first time this year!

This time next week I’ll be settling into my hotel in Bergen for two nights, & I bet that’s going to be winterier still.

Oh, yes, I can certainly see myself slicing them cleanly with my trusty sword. For the gerbils to cook with. Warm, spicy soup and pies etc. (I’d be less comfortable with fluffy ones being kindly donated and dotted around the galleon.)

The slicing reminds me of a screen game my children used to play. There were watermelons and you had to slice them with a sword quickly. Maybe Ninja something? It was surprisingly satisfying.

I'm sure I must've seen those spectacular grisaille windows before, because I've been to York a few times, but can I remember? Might be time for another trip...

I have noticed this as well. Not sure how I feel about it yet. Better than 37C heat, I know that much. And nice to be able to wear jeans again occasionally. I've been in shorts and skirts since May, I think.

I prefer the boots and long coats of Autumn and Winter, but do like the warm, the blue skies and the sun.

I don't know if it's just the weather but the last couple of days I have been besieged by bastard flies. My street always has a fly issue in the summer, but this has been ridiculous. It's like in a film where the police open a door and all these flies appear and then they find a dead body. I have searched everywhere. There are no dead bodies of any species.

Also, I think I am still out exploring cathedrals in the Midlands (or wherever I have gone) I do hope my exploration has been useful!

And I think I must still be wandering about in the East Midlands, too. Perhaps I'm lost as it's not a part of the country I'm familiar with. Still, it makes a nice change from emptying and defrosting the chest freezer which was today's fun task.
