@WhiteHairedMyrtle It may take some training as lion and female lion produce images with manes HOWEVER whilst it is rare female lions can grow manes. Apparently it's been documented in zoos according to the internet.

I'd like to see what AI would make of 'Madagascar Hissing Cockroach' , but I'm not sure I'd want one around the Bluestocking.. the hissing would disturb the gerbils' 70s tribute band performances.

Turns out the Madagascar hissing cockroach would be good at scaring the men off!

DD asked for some Madagascan Hissing Cockroaches for Xmas one year when she was a young teenager. She'd figured out their requirements and that you should get all one sex to avoid breeding. I think it's the only time DH has ever put his foot down and refused her anything! (Her requests are usually entirely sensible and modest, she wasn't a spoilt brat, I hasten to add!)

It'd be rather amazing if it wasn't!

I'd vaguely remembered the lumpier heads on the males but it seems there's a few differences. Including behaviour, quelle suprise Males are the aggressive sex, while females tend to be more sociable and laid back with conspecifics.

I think cockroaches are related to crickets and mantis, I think you can sex some species as adults but the nymphs are indistinguishable. Weird to think of insects having puberty.

A quick look at the etymology of myrtle shows myrtle all the way down. It is an evergreen which might explain the appearance of it in the Christmas wreaths.
