Here I am.

@WhiteHairedMyrtle Myrtle the Mountain Lion?

Ooh... That sounds interesting. What do the rest of the regulars think? Would a lion be a good addition to the pub? Obviously it wouldn't have a mane which will probably catch out the AI.

Here I am.

The gerbils have been adding food colouring out of the kitchen to the snow. The results are great!

I love all the snowy goings-on! One of the many things I love about our little furry friends is that they look so genuinely, innocently happy to be doing fun things like playing in the snow, like the [rare, surely?] Arctic Quokka brought to us by inkymoose at 16:24. Awwww the little happy face of it😍

That's something nice about AI at last - somewhere in its data it has the code for 'endearing look of innocent delight', bless.

I love Android's snow figures, and I'm definitely the one in the front and that's a copy of my pal Montaigne's essays attached to my belt. Never go anywhere without it - that's actually true in real life - well in my bag, not attached to my belt, that would be odd behaviour, even for me!

The M animals are an interesting bunch...

Common animals that start with the letter M include the Macaque, Macaroni Penguin, Muskat, Madagascar Hissing Cockroach, Magellanic Penguin, Magpie, Mallard, Manatee, Mandarin Rat Snake, Mandrill, Marine Iguana, and Meerkat.

There's also mouse and marsh frog?!?

FuzzyPuffling · 08/01/2025 18:55

Oh "POFUTS"! My all time favourite magazine!

inkymoose · 08/01/2025 18:57

I found some great pictures of Snow Woman white haired Myrtle just as she is! Perhaps they're a little bit romanticised. But there's only so many times you can ask for short hair and woolly jumpers before you lose the will to endlessly repeat-yourself-with-very-minor-variations.

@ifIwerenotanandroid manages a level of detail that I can't get AI to do!!!

AI when asked to write a story or a poem loves to insert the words whimsy and whimsical so it would seem that somewhere in its coding lies a few lines of 'ah bless '

FuzzyPuffling · 08/01/2025 18:59

I think a MyrtleLion would be delightful. We all liked Parsley, didn't we?

Common animals? Can you get away with calling Magpie "Common"?

Wasn't there a knitted Parsley at some point?

Indeed there was. Courtesy of Woley. And it was fab!

I would NEVER call Magpie common!

However. https://a-z-animals.com/animals/animals-that-start-with-m/ would!

Boiledbeetle · 08/01/2025 19:05

How about Mullet fish (god! That would just be lots of fish with bad haircuts!!)

ErrolTheDragon · 08/01/2025 19:05

How about MyrtleTurtle?

Boiledbeetle · 08/01/2025 19:06

ErrolTheDragon · 08/01/2025 19:05

I see what you did there!!

Boiledbeetle · 08/01/2025 19:07

Myrtle the Manchester Terrier?

Magpiecomplex · 08/01/2025 19:01

@WhiteHairedMyrtle you ain't having magpie! 🤣

I wouldn't dare!

MyrtleLion is available but I won't be able to post on this thread as a lion. It would have to wait till the next thread. But I can change permanently for Bluestocking except for the special occasions when we change for Christmas and other holidays.

Nope

Boiledbeetle · 08/01/2025 19:08

Definitely not a Mudpuppy!

FuzzyPuffling · 08/01/2025 19:09

MyrtleLion sounds good to me. Don't forget to do it when we load the buses for the next thread.
In the meantime, can you just identify as a lion, like Banned does with her hedgehoggery?

MarieDeGournay · 08/01/2025 19:10

I know what you mean: I regret having the name of a human being, and tried to be a bandicoot for a post or two but it didn't catch on, and I fear I am doomed to remain a furry animal trapped in a woman's body <sigh>

Common animals that start with the letter M include the Macaque, Macaroni Penguin, Muskat, Madagascar Hissing Cockroach, Magellanic Penguin, Magpie, Mallard, Manatee, Mandarin Rat Snake, Mandrill, Marine Iguana, and Meerkat.

Magpie is obvs taken, Meerkats are too common [not in the snobby sense], mice are too like gerbils...
I see AI having a lot of fun with Macaroni Penguin, though I think that actually belongs under 'P' not 'M'.
I'd like to see what AI would make of 'Madagascar Hissing Cockroach' , but I'm not sure I'd want one around the Bluestocking.. the hissing would disturb the gerbils' 70s tribute band performances.
Mallard - well you'd have to be blue, streamlined, and capable of reaching 126mph..

So I'd go for MyrtleMountainLion...

Bannedontherun · 08/01/2025 19:11

@WhiteHairedMyrtle Hiya you do not have to name change i have identified as a hedgehog for quite some threads and am vey happy now, as we are very inclusive dontcha know, no invasive surgery involved BTW.
