Jeremy Clarkson article about Meghan

I know this isn't The Royal Family board. I'm not analysing Meghan as I don't know her and she will have no affect on my life. I have become interested in the press and public reaction to her as it feels misogynistic which obviously does affect me.

This is from Jeremy Clarkson today. I feel like is the dark she's and we're hunting witches again.

Meghan, though, is a different story. I hate her. Not like I hate Nicola Sturgeon or Rose West. I hate her on a cellular level. At night, I’m unable to sleep as I lie there, grinding my teeth and dreaming of the day when she is made to parade naked through the streets of every town in Britain while the crowds chant, ‘Shame!’ and throw lumps of excrement at her. Everyone who’s my age thinks the same way.”

That's chilling. Why can’t he disagree with a woman's views or actions without writing something inciting sexualised violence against her? Did someone say upthread that camilla met with him? I hope she queries this if she's seen it as part of her work against VAWG. I'll be putting a complaint in.

It’s not banter it’s hateful. If people are having a debate of oh is it satire or banter or misogyny shows that his intentions are well hidden and it gives him space to hide when lots of people criticise him: “you misread”, “you misunderstood” etc People need to just leave them alone. Personally I think there’s a big element of race there and if she was white and not of two racial backgrounds she would not face this much backlash regardless of whether they opted out of the royal family or not.

How could this be allowed to be published? I'm absolutely horrified.

I have just submitted a complaint - have never complained to IPSO before. I have no opinions on MM, after all I don't know her. I find Jeremy Clarkson's article to be incredibly violent and repugnant - and this would be the case whoever he was writing about. Hope this finishes has career.

What cancel culture? The fact this man exists proves there is no cancel culture. He punched somebody from his TV crew because he didn't like the food, FFS. He's said all sorts of racist things in the past.

It doesn’t prove anything of the sort. Cancel culture has always been arbitrary and reflects or magnifies existing power dynamics. It is absolutely in the nature of cancel culture that it will allow a white man to get away with appalling behaviour while less privileged people are condemned for much less.

Perhaps Camilla should write an article where she ponders about Jeremy Clarkson being paraded naked through the streets and then sodomised by a horse?

Fcuk me, that is a NASTY article. I am amazed that was allowed to go to print. Shock

JC is a misogynistic asshat. His daughter has made a comment on her Insta stating she hates the bullying of M and H 'on a cellular level' a clear comment against JC.

I feel really sorry for her, as her take on the H&M issue has been really sensible and fair - that whatever your personal opinion of them is, the articles written about Meghan have been completely disproportionate, tantamount to sustained bullying, often misogynistic and some with racist undertones.

And that that is wrong, whatever you think of them. I'm impressed she made her feelings clear about his article and think considering she's been so vocal and balanced on the issue it'll be a tense Christmas for them.

I know I sound hypocritical, but MM doesn't deserve it, JC does!

If he is indeed a royalist he has put their case back horribly for them. Is it any wonder HM are utterly bereft at the absolute vitriol and bile spewed at them. If you want to go down into the sewer just have a glance at the odious Dan Wooton's twitter feed or anyone of the Mail's countless articles attacking them even speculating as with whom Harry lost his virginity.

But even if she did (!) it wouldn’t affect him in the same way because he doesn’t have the existing vulnerability of being a woman and victim of racism that Meghan has. It would wash over him and he and his supporters would use it as evidence that everyone else is overreacting and just needs to have a sense of humour.

I haven't read all the articles, and have purposefully avoided the M&H stuff because I feel they're basically just Instagram influencers... they only exist if you pay give them attention. So maybe someone can explain...

From what I've seen, I don't think it's her as a woman JC hates, but what she has influenced Harry to do and the repercussions on him and the royal family and England that JC disapproves of. Correct me if I'm wrong!

Harry was in line to be King. For many he was the favourite. He had the charisma, the personality and that slight edge to be interesting. Then comes Meghan and suddenly he abandons his family, his life, his country. He slags it off on a daily basis. He sells his story, his family's stories and his soul for hundreds of millions... basically profiteering on airing the royal's dirty laundry. The only common denominator is Meghan, who 'appears' to solely be interested in fame and attention, despite them both constantly saying they want to be left alone, despite all the evidence to the contrary.

That's just the impression I've gotten, I'll openly admit it has probably been influenced by propaganda, so if anyone has a different side or correct me, I'm open to the insight :).

I'm no MM fan but this is different.

He has said he hates her more than Rose West.

Whatever she has or has not done she is not a convicted murderer who tortured numerous young women to death.

No woman deserves to be paraded naked for him to throw excrement at, and I don't think many men would wish that on their worst enemy.

But they can attack the royal family and the country but nobody is allowed to say anything negative about them. Gloves are off I'd say. Its all getting a bit ridiculous

So if H&M issued a statement saying, or said in their netflix doc, that they dream about members of the royal family being made to strip naked and parade through the streets while people throw excrement at them, your reaction would be 'the gloves are off I'd say'?

Thought not.

I know ☹️
It was a silly thing for me to write ☹️
I just can't find the words to express how appalled I am at Clarkson☹️
Knowing that there will be men cheering him on because he says things that they wish they could get away with☹️

H&M are annoying but this article is indefensible. It's perfectly possible to believe H&M are self righteous hypocrites while also recognising the dangers this level of misogynistic violent fantasy in the mainstream media poses to MM and indeed all women. Case in point: in the DM article about the Clarkson article one of the comments is: "sounds perfectly reasonable to me!"

It's disgusting to both Meghan but also to Nicola sturgeon who he puts in the same bracket as Rose West, a mass murderer.

If I was Meghan and Nicola I would sue him and the rag of a paper he "writes" for.

When I read it to DH, he said if he was Harry he would punch Clarkson.

Violence, even imagined, against woman is never OK and the fact that paper printed that when the type of people who read it are brainless neanderthals is just asking for yet more threats against Meghan.

No wonder they left the UK.

The irony of trying to blame a woman yet again!

Quite! I’m not a Meghan fan, but nobody can doubt she was genuinely treated appallingly by the press even before this. Blaming her for Harry’s decisions is absolute misogyny. And blaming Camilla for being at a (200 guest) lunch also attended by Clarkson is another example. She shouldn’t attend events in case there’s a misogynistic journalist there?! She’d never attend anything if that was the rule. And the King is the head of the royal family, so whatever their collective response to M&H’s treatment by the media it is HIM in charge of it. Probably with the Prince of Wales as an advisor (as he himself was advisor to his mother when he was PoW).

I’m surprised how many people are surprised it was published though. People from Merseyside have been saying for decades: don’t buy the Sun!
