Crying myself to sleep tonight

Anonymous2003 · 17/04/2025 00:37

Having a really bad few days because of life situation. One of those nights where it feels as though it was only yesterday. My hearts in pieces and I am finding it really difficult to go on. Everything looks very bleak.
Also been 7 and a half years since I attempted to take my own life. Whenever I see people online talk about how life has gotten so much better since their attempt, I feel that I'm almost in as bad a place as I was.
Just posting here to scream into the abyss that is the internet.

Hi OP- I am so sorry to hear you are feeling like this. Take it an hour at a time. What brings you some small comfort? For me it is often an audiobook in the dark in a bed with clean sheets. It can be texting a friend and organising meeting up. A warm bath or a long shower. What is it for you and can you do it now?

Jsidken · 17/04/2025 00:47

I hear you. I'm sorry you feel this way. Tonight sounds very hard for you. I hope you can try to get some rest tonight, go to sleep if you can. If not maybe watch a distracting documentary or something? I hope whatever you are having to deal with in your life situation there is someone you can talk to about it in real life? Or maybe you can consider reaching out for some help? It's ok to seek help if you need it.
Congratulations for surviving the suicide attempt those years back. Tonight sounds hard but tomorrow may feel a bit different. Wishing you strength.

You're not alone i feel very much the same tonight as i imagine a lot of people do for a variety of reasons. I'm sorry you're having such a shit time and sending you a big hug. I just keep telling myself tomorrow is a new day. For me my situation won't change but hopefully tomorrow we'll be stronger to deal with this

Scream OP - find somewhere you can let it all out.
Play some music that resonates to you..
Get a grib and find a way forward. Join groups. Walk.
You are not alone.

Just woken up, take it gently @Anonymous2003. Hopefully you're resting now but reach out when you do need help

Support from other Mumsnetters is great and we really hope you will be able to take some comfort from your fellow posters, but as other MNers will tell you, it's really a good idea to seek RL help and support as well.

I hope today has been a bit better day for you, OP

OraclesandOmens · 17/04/2025 22:13

Hello, I was feeling like you today. Small steps. Hope you’ve been ok, well done for 7.5 years post attempt. Youve come so far.

I felt hellish and managed to get through with small things minute by minute then hour by hour. Washed car, bought flowers, planted seeds, watered plants, loaded machine, hung clothes out. Somehow keeping active with small mind-less things kept me going. Goodnight, OP, hope you feel better tonight.
