Reassurance needed: Poured bleach on urine in toilet

I'm sure this must have happened to people other than me before?

I'm absolutely freaking out.

I noticed that the toilet started to bubble and then realised there was paper and wee still in there.

Google has either told me that it's really bad or it's fine and nothing in between.

I've rang 111 as tried to ring poison control myself but they only speak to those passed through 111.

Please no nasty comments. I've gone to my parents' house with my 2 year old.

I struggle with contamination OCD but have had an upset stomach and don't usually use bleach 😩

What do you think could happen- what’s your fear?

misssunshine4040 · 21/02/2025 23:00

Absolutely nothing wil happen I promise. You are safe to go home

Pringlebeak · 21/02/2025 23:00

I use bleach on everything all the time.I think you're fine.

Atstritchsitchmitch · 21/02/2025 23:01

Absolutely nothing to worry about.

Kangarude · 21/02/2025 23:01

There’s nothing to worry about. My DH leaves bleach in the toilet bowl and has a couple of wees throughout a morning. No problems

Mumof1andacat · 21/02/2025 23:01

Absolute nothing will happen

MummyDummyNow · 21/02/2025 23:02

Bleach and urine get mixed together in our bathroom on a weekly basis for years. It's totally fine.

ThatsNotMyTeen · 21/02/2025 23:03

It’ll be fine x give it a flush if you’re worried

HundredMilesAnHour · 21/02/2025 23:04

It’s completely fine.

If you’re not already getting help / support with your OCD, please get some help as this is no way to live.

vodkaredbullgirl · 21/02/2025 23:06

Nothing to worry about, I've done it a few times myself.

Icepinkeskimo · 21/02/2025 23:06

Are you serious? You rang poison control? What is your reasoning for this “contamination”?
Have you considered therapy at all?

NorthernGirl1981 · 21/02/2025 23:07

Please don’t worry.

I’ve lost count of the amount of times I’ve put bleach down the children and then my children are going in and out still having their normal wees.

You’d think the fact the water was blue would make them realise there’s bleach down there and to use another toilet, but sadly not.

No harm has ever come to any of us from them persistently doing this.

Kindly, you need to seek help as it must be hell living with this level of stress and anxiety.

qwertyasdfgzxcv · 21/02/2025 23:07

Can someone educate me as to why this shouldn't be done?

Applefumble · 21/02/2025 23:09

Are you getting help for your OCD? It's a horrible place to be (from a fellow sufferer)

Gettingbysomehow · 21/02/2025 23:09

I've done it loads of times. Nothing happened. I wasn't gassed to death.
I think you need to have therapy though. This kind of over reaction can be very damaging to a child's mental health.
My own mother had OCD and a mental illness and it really messed me up.

HelenCurlyBrown · 21/02/2025 23:09

What are you worried about?

You need urgent help with your anxiety.

NewHeaven · 21/02/2025 23:10

Just flush the toilet and everything will be back to normal.

In the meantime, yet some therapy because it's not fair on your children to live with your abnormal fear of everything.

I asked for no horrible responses.

I am receiving therapy. I have been for multiple years. It is manageable and I'm fine 90% of the time.

A few days before my period is due, it is severe and something I have to just let go.

There's no need for rudeness.

Get a life instead of posting on anxious women's posts and making them feel bad about themselves.

I hope it will reassure you to know that I genuinely have no idea why this would worry you.

See the reply I've just posted.

And kindly, remove yourself from my post.

So so often have I bleached the toilet, forgotten, and had a wee. It's only when I get that typical smell that I realise I've done it! So I flush, grump at myself for wasting the bleach, and then pop some more down. I promise you OP, you're absolutely fine.

Meecrowahvey · 21/02/2025 23:11

Your OCD will be harming your child much more than a little bleach toilet ever will.

Do you not have techniques you've learnt in therapy to calm yourself?

HelenCurlyBrown · 21/02/2025 23:12

We have 4 loos and I pour bleach down them every night before bed (if I remember). People piss on said bleachy loo every morning, or night. It’s fine.

Just for further context- I accidentally created mustard gas when pregnant with my 2 year old. l

I've essentially mixed ammonia (in tiny forms) and bleach.
