Spa day alone??

Has anyone been to a spa day by themselves? I've been feeling incredibly stressed recently due to a lack of effort with household duties from my husband. I have been doing all tidying/cleaning/cooking/washing etc for the house (husband and two children) along with a full time job.

Recently had a very honest conversation with my husband about it who has stepped up the game this week (still waiting to see if it lasts). But he has football once or twice a week and out with friends too.

I'm embarrassed to admit it but I have absolutely no friends. I'm introverted and struggle with social situations and have lost all my friends along the way since having kids.

I feel I need to make a bit of a point of having 'me time' and was wondering if I would get some odd looks if I book a spa day for just me as I have no one else to go with?

I'd love a spa day on my own!

Tulipblank · 16/02/2024 22:31

Yep! Blissful. Lovely to sit in peace and quiet.

Wigeon · 16/02/2024 22:32

I have done this once and it was absolutely brilliant. No one batted an eyelid. I honestly don't think people care at all - they are too absorbed with what they are doing.

JennyfromtheBlok · 16/02/2024 22:32

The gym I am a member of has spa facilities. Probably once or twice a month I spend a good few hours there. It’s lovely, you would not get odd looks at all. Take a book or some magazines, and enjoy

pinkdelight · 16/02/2024 22:32

Sorry you're feeling low, but yes absolutely - I've done spa days alone and accompanied and prefer to go alone. Just luxuriating in being pampered and floating in the quiet space or reading a book by the pool. Having to chat to someone is a different vibe and less relaxing to me. Don't feel like it's strange to do it solo because that's not my experience at all. Take care of yourself and enjoy it.

Yes, do it. I’m regretting my choice of Spa day partner recently. Ruined a very expensive birthday treat.

Gagagardener · 16/02/2024 22:32

Do it! Enjoy it.

Eyesopenwideawake · 16/02/2024 22:32

Nope. Everyone has cucumber slices on their eyes during treatments and is otherwise too busy avoiding eye contact because the dressing gowns make everyone look like a badly rewrapped loo roll. Enjoy yourself!!

Ulysees · 16/02/2024 22:33

No you'd really enjoy it. Or how about a mini retreat? I've just been talking to someone who goes on them alone. The one she goes to is fab. Got tub, sauna, food is great. Has meditation etc.

EveryOtherNameTaken · 16/02/2024 22:34

Yes and I really enjoyed it. Properly able to relax and disengage. I'd never go to one with anybody as you don't really relish it as much chatting and stuff.

I got mine as a leaving gift which also included afternoon tea.

Ladyj84 · 16/02/2024 22:34

It's not my thing but I do second hand shops, coffee shops, lunch out , museums etc alone and thoroughly enjoy myself

Unexpectedlysinglemum · 16/02/2024 22:34

Of course go on your own! Ideal. Especially if you find people exhausting

SoEmbarrassed2024 · 16/02/2024 22:35

I go on my own, I take my kindle and have a fab time.

Morecurlywurly · 16/02/2024 22:37

I’d much rather go on my own and,in fact, have one booked for March.
Totally “ me time”.
Go enjoy yourself !

Tilllly · 16/02/2024 22:57

I've done it a few times

Was fab

You don't feel awkward at all

bryceQ · 16/02/2024 22:58

Loads of times. I actually prefer it as I don't need to talk 😂

staherts · 16/02/2024 22:59

I’ve had brilliant spa days on my own and never felt like anyone was looking at me strangely. I find them so relaxing - just make sure you choose the best spa you can afford.

stayathomer · 16/02/2024 23:00

I got a gift of a voucher once and did it. Lovely!!! Definitely go for it op!

Mombie · 16/02/2024 23:04

Forget spa day, I did a spa weekend alone. It was amazing just being able to do things in my own time like plan my meal times and book yoga/treatments. I took a book to read at dinner. Honestly do it, you won’t regret it.

LadyWithLapdog · 16/02/2024 23:05

I went on my own and it was nice getting in and out of the pool, sauna etc when I wanted, not talking with anyone, and just reading a book.

Snowsp · 16/02/2024 23:10

I've had 2 spa days recently with my mum and sister n with my partner. Both times there were people there alone and I one batted an eylid. I'd absolutely do it.

DillDanding · 16/02/2024 23:12

In November, I went to a spa for five days on my own. It was bloody lovely.

Mmhmmn · 16/02/2024 23:15

Enjoy it!!

Maybe consider joining some sort of group locally? - for a bit of social interest.

Don't do all the housework. He’ll happily lapse back into doing none of it if you do it.

BungleandGeorge · 16/02/2024 23:17

There will be multiple other people on their own. They’ll usually offer you a table alone or with other singles depending on what you prefer.

Jeannie88 · 16/02/2024 23:25

Yes a few times and loved it! Treatments, lunch, relaxing, not having to perform and talk all day, bliss! Was many years ago now, and I would love to do it again. X
