Crisis team

I've been put under the crisis team again. I don't need them, I'm not depressed or suicidal. I had to agree to have them to get out of hospital, otherwise they were going to section me. Now they are telling me I need to sleep and that all humans need to sleep. Well I don't so maybe I'm not human, I mean I don't remember being born so I could have come from another planet instead.

@Olimar Can I ask - do you believe that you're being prescribed these drugs just to keep you quiet and to shut you up
Why do YOU think they want you to take these medications? x

setmestraightplease · 17/01/2024 19:29

@Scutterbug I switched from aripiprizole to haloperidol but I do take lamotrigine too. Apparently it stabilises my mood (not that I’ve noticed anything different but I take it at the moment to keep them quiet!)

Please let them know if you don't notice a difference!

Scutterbug · 17/01/2024 20:19

@setmestraightplease oh they know, they just don’t listen.

setmestraightplease · 17/01/2024 21:24

I apologise then - the MH services in your area are not good!
It seems to be such a lottery of where MH services are working and where they're not ..........

Scutterbug · 17/01/2024 21:32

@setmestraightplease i think MH services in most areas are pretty shocking these days. Lack of funding, lack of staff, long waiting lists.

Olimar · 19/01/2024 16:06

I feel like my brain works so much better without meds. I can think clearer and quicker and I can do so much more. I've accepted though to get out of hospital I have to take them so I have agreed to take Lamotrigine. They also keep trying to sedate me with lorazepam every time I move so I take those tablets occasionally too, to avoid being jabbed in the butt with it instead.

Today they took me for a walk outside around the hospital grounds, which was the first time I've been out in a week. It was good and I didn't attempt to run away although I considered it a lot.

Nice to hear from you OP, sounds like you’re making headway.

Scutterbug · 19/01/2024 16:15

@Olimar well done, hopefully working with them will mean you are out sooner and you can go home.

Wolfiefan · 19/01/2024 16:33

So glad you got to go for a walk. Hope the sun was shining on you.

Olimar · 19/01/2024 17:10

Yes the sun was shining but also I saw the moon too!

Sounds like you're doing well @Olimar 😊
When they let you go home, what does 'home' look like - have you got family that you live with? x

Olimar · 19/01/2024 21:40

@setmestraightplease no I don't live with family, I live on my own. I am thinking about getting some cats through.

Wolfiefan · 19/01/2024 22:13

Cats are great company. (Just don’t do what we did and get a pair of naughty torties who hate each other! 🤦‍♀️)

setmestraightplease · 20/01/2024 00:39

@Olimar Are you happy living on your own? Is that what you want?

Olimar · 20/01/2024 05:25

No I don't like living alone very much, I preferred it when I still had my children at home. I don't want to live with strangers though, which is why I was thinking about cats.

OP posts:
setmestraightplease · 20/01/2024 11:53

Cats would be excellent then, wouldn't they :)
How many are you thinking of getting?

Wolfiefan · 20/01/2024 23:17

I wouldn’t want to live with strangers either. A cuddly cat (or two) would be brilliant! So many in rescue.

Flowersbutpain · 22/01/2024 22:08

Have you been allowed outside today @Olimar

setmestraightplease · 24/01/2024 17:05

Hi @Olimar How are you doing?

Are you still in hospital?

itsmyp4rty · 24/01/2024 17:38

Hi Olimar, getting a rescue cat could be lovely company, just make sure you have a plan for the cat to be fed and watered if you have to go into hospital again at any time.
I don't know too much about bipolar disorder but I've heard people say that manic periods feel amazing and you feel like you can do anything. I can understand why you wouldn't want that to be medicated away - but I guess it could get dangerous for you and/or other people if you don't realise your limits. Your brain is also playing a few tricks on you - telling you that you don't need to sleep for example.
I hope you're having a good day today.
