I would look at an antihistamine to see if it helps.

Ds has been up since 3 this morning. Melatonin helps him get to sleep but nothing helps him stay asleep!

alwaysscared · 13/11/2021 10:06

@MummyJ12 we tried piriton and it had the opposite effect. He doesn't go to school, been out since May due to anxiety.
We might just have to bite the bullet and get some phenergan, has anyone given this to DC without doctors approval?

MummyJ12 · 13/11/2021 10:12

It’s worth a try @alwaysscared although prepare yourself for the third degree by the pharmacist. It’s quite widely used by parents as a sleep aid for their children but it’s not licensed for this purpose, so they’ll ask questions. It’s only licensed for travel sickness. So you’ll have to lie to get it but in your position, I would absolutely try.

alwaysscared · 13/11/2021 10:12

Just read about breathing difficulties. He's not asthmatic but did have a lot of hospital stays when under 2 for viral wheeze

MummyJ12 · 13/11/2021 10:19

It’s like I posted up thread, it’s not to be taken by asthmatics.
If in doubt, I would just phone or go to the doctors on Monday. Hopefully they’ll see how desperate the situation has become and prescribe something.
Phenergan liquid can be quite hard to get hold of.

alwaysscared · 13/11/2021 11:11

@MummyJ12 I've tried the docs so many times and because of his age, they won't prescribe

alwaysscared · 13/11/2021 12:21

DS can barely move today because of anxiety. Trying to get phenergan because it's supposed to help anxiety too, but can't find it anywhere. I don't know what to do. He doesn't want us near him. Please help, someone

Stilllivinginazoo · 13/11/2021 12:26

always do you have a crisis number you can use if you are that concerned?
Is he feeling suffocated by presence of others?can he verbalise what he does or doesn't want?

Stilllivinginazoo · 13/11/2021 12:33

If you go to the NHS website there is a link for support with finding mental health support in your area in an emergency,or you could ask advice from 111?
This must be extremely distressing fir you both but trying to maintain an air of calm is very important as if he sees you are struggling his anxiety with build thinking if mum can't cope it must be bad

He just keeps whimpering. He doesn't want DH around him as he says he smells (he doesn't)
I honestly don't know what to do

Stilllivinginazoo · 13/11/2021 12:34

On the phenergan front,I only ever found it at a larger boots.ds hated it and wouldn't take it...

OP posts:
alwaysscared · 13/11/2021 12:36

He has calmed a little and is lying in his bed. He's not eaten a thing today. I'm trying to stay calm

Stilllivinginazoo · 13/11/2021 12:37

Smells of what?
He sounds like he's in overwhelm

OP posts:
Stilllivinginazoo · 13/11/2021 12:39

In the scheme of things, one day of not eating won't hurt him..in the moment, hard to manage as mum I know as we want to nurture our children and for them to be ok
You can do it always, the fact he's not rejected you away shows you are still reaching him on some level with comfort.you need to be reminded you are doing what you think is best for him,and that takes time, effort and often courageFlowers

alwaysscared · 13/11/2021 12:39

@Stilllivinginazoo thanks for the tips
He thinks his breath smells, it doesn't
He just won't/can't engage in anything. He is lying in bed and I'm in my bedroom

Sirzy · 13/11/2021 12:42

Take time to do something that helps you relax while he is safe in his room.

Will he eat some mints or something if he thinks his breath smells?

Stilllivinginazoo · 13/11/2021 12:44

He probably has either heightened sense of smellor just doesn't want him near
I assume he's safe in his room so just laying quietly is absolutely ok.hes trying to process too much anxiety and it's kind of like a safety shut off.dd2 gets like that.burriws in her bed and can't /won't speak, eat move.we just let her be and when it passes she comes out for food/water/company
It's hard but once you have got thru it once it gets a little easier each time.x

OP posts:
alwaysscared · 13/11/2021 12:44

@Sirzy he brushes his teeth so much, and mouthwash, chewing gum etc

Stilllivinginazoo · 13/11/2021 12:45

sirzy has beat me to it with whilst he's having time out,you have somealways!
It's exhausting when they're like this and you need to look after yourself too

alwaysscared · 13/11/2021 12:51

I'm trying to distract myself playing Roblox 🙄 in the hope that he will be interested in me playing. He's asked for chocolate and milk

MummyJ12 · 13/11/2021 12:51

Phenergan is definitely hard to get hold of. You could try benylin children’s night cough. This contains a different antihistamine (the same one that’s in Nytol for adults) it may be more palatable for him too?
I’m so sorry that today is so bad for you all. Netflix has a headspace programme that may be good to put on in the background. Close the curtains and hope he stays a little more settled. It won’t help that he must be exhausted.
Thinking of you @alwaysscared

Sirzy · 13/11/2021 12:53

Chocolate and milk is good!

Enjoy roblox.

alwaysscared · 13/11/2021 12:54

Thanks everyone. Got some phenergan but won't use it until he is really anxious again because don't really want to use it at alll!

alwaysscared · 13/11/2021 13:06

Has anyone used phenergan for their DC? Sorry, may have asked this before, my mind is not working properly! Does it not taste nice? Is it a bad idea? I don't know what to do
