Hi all, after reading some unhelpful comments on another thread where someone is struggling, I wondered if anyone would like to join me in a SAD support thread for anyone who is feeling low now that winter is coming, whether you have a SAD diagnosis or not.

Disclaimer: I know anyone can post anything they like on a public forum but please, out of respect for those of us who are really struggling, don’t come on this thread to tell us how much you love winter, hygge, snuggling, hot chocolate or twinkly lights or tell us that we’ll feel better if only we change our mindset.

Please feel free to share your feelings, good or bad, tell us about your day or share tips for things that help (or don’t). Hopefully we can all help each other get through this winter!

It's a receptionist job so no more retail! I'm so nervous but excited!

That's brilliant news @ShaneTwane ! I'm dead chuffed for you Smile. All okay here. The weekend was gorgeous and I felt great for it here. The rain seems to be back though for the next few days anyway. Hope you are all doing well.

Thank you! The weather looks pretty bright today so who knows if that will last :) hope everyone's having a good week so far.

With the weather getting cold and grey, wondered if we could start this thread again

Yes the last two weeks I have found the low mood descending again. Exercise helps me, so I’ve managed to get to the gym and do some swimming this week, squeezed in a Pilates class last night as well. I’m struggling particularly in the evenings with the darkness.

Hi @Winterblu3s there is a new thread, I’ll try to link to it…

Ps this is my new username.

Hi OP

Thank you for this thread. I think I'm suffering from depression or anxiety related symptoms (never diagnosed) and have done on and off for years but never really pursued in getting any help, as back then I was naive and thought I was just having a 'bad' week and it would noticeably get worse during winter. Now, I'm really struggling with the shorter days and darker periods. The thought of trying to go to sleep makes me feel sick!

I'm not too sure what helps me as of yet, but I do enjoy listening to podcasts. One being 'Life Changing' by BBC radio 4. X
