SAD/ feeling low in winter support thread

Hi all, after reading some unhelpful comments on another thread where someone is struggling, I wondered if anyone would like to join me in a SAD support thread for anyone who is feeling low now that winter is coming, whether you have a SAD diagnosis or not.

Disclaimer: I know anyone can post anything they like on a public forum but please, out of respect for those of us who are really struggling, don’t come on this thread to tell us how much you love winter, hygge, snuggling, hot chocolate or twinkly lights or tell us that we’ll feel better if only we change our mindset.

Please feel free to share your feelings, good or bad, tell us about your day or share tips for things that help (or don’t). Hopefully we can all help each other get through this winter!

Oh I fully agree! I'm going through a very bad time with work and the fact do hasn't been paid again so I have to pay 100%of bills again with £800! But the sun is making me feel positive that we will weather this (sunny) storm and be ok by summer.

LadyCatStark · 24/03/2022 13:07

That’s not fair, why won’t they pay him? Can’t he claim any benefits? Or he might even be entitled to PIP if you’re prepared to fight for it?

hes going to try claim pip but it could take months and can still be rejected. I'm desperately applying for jobs and being rejected left right and center. But I'm sure it will all be ok. The sunshine is helping as I would have had a breakdown by now if it was cold and dark.

Everyone prepared for the clock change?

LadyCatStark · 27/03/2022 08:51

I always feel really disorientated when the clocks go forward, more so than when they go back! I’m loving this weather though 😎.

Today seemed to go so quickly and the sun was ace. As a bonus dp got me a mother's day card from dss which was so unexpected! Happy Mother's day to all mother's here ❤️

LadyCatStark · 27/03/2022 20:24

Awww that’s lovely! Neither DS or DH bothered to get me anything but DS did make tea for us and the dog treated me to excellent behaviour for the whole weekend 😂.

Can't ask for better than a well behaved pup! Grin.

LadyCatStark · 30/03/2022 16:55

Can’t cope with the return to winter! 😭 just in time for energy prices to rise 😡

It's utterly grim isn't it! We had snow today:( I have a tooth infection and no money to last the month just in time for the price hike. Yay Britain.

LadyCatStark · 02/04/2022 10:07

Yup the future looks very bleak ☹️. At least when the sun is shining, you can go outside and forget about it for a while.

We have had snow and sleet here. It's utterly freezing and windy outside today as well. At least I've done most of the housework today and have run a nice bath, only it's just enough to cover my arse because gas prices. How is everyone doing today?

LadyCatStark · 02/04/2022 14:49

It’s freezing here but sunny. I’m on my own today as DH is away on an all expenses paid skiing trip with work (alright for some!!) and DS is at army cadet camp. I took our dog for a long walk on the beach which was lovely until the tide came in. I love hearing the sound of the sea and it was so quiet I could here jet skis across the bay in The Lake District! We had the whole beach to ourselves! When I got home, the house was so cold, I thought I’d left the back door open but nope, that’s just the reality now. I’m using the dog as a blanket while he watches David Attenborough but he’s a bit wet still so it’s not really helping🙈.

You have some how managed to make that sound like an ideal day despite the freezing cold Grin. Me and do went to get fish and chips for lunch and now back watching footie as I browse the internet. I'm so cold even with the heating on for an hour it's bad.

LadyCatStark · 02/04/2022 19:02

It has been lovely actually! I ended up taking the dog next door to play either his girlfriend and having a brew in the garden where there was actually a bit of warm sun! And then went round to another friend’s house for another brew. Before I started on Sertraline, it would never even have occurred to me to contact friends to arrange something last minute, or if I did, I’d assume they’d feel put out.

It’s no bloody warmer in my house than outside though now I’m home. I’ve got an oversized hoodie, Oodie, slippers on and my hot water bottle and I’m still cold! It ridiculous as the dog is a working dog breed originally from Canada but he has cold paws and ears and I’m worried about him being to cold 😂.

Sounds brilliant haha ah I need an oodie they look fab! And yeah I keep worrying all the cats are cold in the house they are all sleeping on seperate radiators lol. I would be the same with a dog even if they are designed for the cold!

LadyCatStark · 02/04/2022 21:20

They are so warm and cosy! Mine isn’t a real one but it’s certainly good enough. It’s from www.onlinehomeshop.com.

Thanks for the link I will have to save up and get one! How's your evening without dh ? Hopefully relaxing.

LadyCatStark · 02/04/2022 21:58

There’s a couple for £10 and you can use Klarna if that helps? It’s worth it to be warm!

It’s not too bad thanks, I warmed myself up on the cross trainer and then watched Motherland as there’s nothing at all on TV! I need to go to bed but the dog is dreaming and I can’t bear (bare?) to wake him.

OP posts:
ShaneTwane · 02/04/2022 22:43

That's determination that you still use the cross trainer! I'm still meaning to start an excercise routine since January 🤣. But I have a phone interview Monday. Company seems a bit dodgy but if it's legit it's a pay rise from 12k a year to 18k a year.

Absolutely impossible to move when there's a doggy sleeping on you. My sympathies you are trapped until he wakes lol.

LadyCatStark · 02/04/2022 22:54

I absolutely love it! I nearly didn’t to be fair as I didn’t want to get out of my Oodie and into my workout clothes but I felt better afterwards. The dog eventually woke himself up after he’d rolled himself onto his back and snored himself awake 😂.

Really hope you get the job, why does it seem dodgy?

How’s everyone getting on? I’m sooo tired!

OP posts:

Me too Sad. I have very little energy past 6pm. I thought it get better with the longer days.

Kids are on holiday this fortnight. I’m still working but now having to work oversee them too. Off from tomorrow though.

The weather is rubbish here - cold and rainy.

ShaneTwane · 06/04/2022 17:57

I'm actually ok. A bit anxious and my ocd is getting a bit iffy at the moment but I'm doing ok. Working 7 days a week. Gutted I haven't heard back from the job interview as the deadline was today so obviously I didn't get it and I actually really wanted it but oh well. Hope everyone's week is going ok despite the tiredness
