Son got paid today, gambled all his wages and lost

Made a bet on a EURO “dead cert”. He gambled £1000 to win £100 and lost. He came to us and said he has a gambling problem. He is 26. His mental health problems have been going on for 10 years. I just dont know what to do anymore. We have been down various routes - GP, meds, counselling. He doesn’t change.

I’ve just come across this thread but I just wanted to say how bloody amazing this is!!! It sounds like your son is doing fab. He’s so lucky to have such a supportive mum like you.

Thanks everyone. It’s not perfect but it is better. He can still be extremely disagreeable and rude and difficult to speak to. But he had just left to go to the gym.
