Sertraline good news stories please!

I'm about to start sertraline for the 2nd time. I took it a few years ago and it worked very well for me.
I remember having a few days of side effects when I went on it but they weren't too bad.
My best friend is a mental health professional (handy!) and she thinks I shouldn't really get side effects the 2nd time going on it as your brain knows what to do with it.
Does anyone have a positive story of going on sertraline for a second time?

Yes and it was a walk in the park in comparison to first time.
All upside no downside for me

That is GREAT to know!! How long before you noticed an effect? I'm only starting on 25mg and possibly going up to 50mg x

I've been up and down on it (in terms of doses) and never really had side effects unless 1) I went to a super high dose (250mg) or 2) Came off a high dose cold turkey. Neither are recommended! I certainly found times when I restarted it having stopped to be pretty painless.

SugarMiceInTheRain · 25/01/2021 16:15

I just had a few days of slight queasiness starting it the second time. I'm on 50mg. It definitely takes the edge off without leaving me spaced out.

Howzaboutye · 25/01/2021 16:30

About a week to feel better.
Hope it goes ok for you too

It's made a huge difference to me. 1st time

cafedesreves · 25/01/2021 21:44

Made an enormous difference. I'm on 100mg. Was jittery at first and still get crazy dreams but 100000000% worth it.

HelenStewart77 · 25/01/2021 22:20

25mg down the hatch...wish me luck!

@cafedesreves can I ask what you mean by jittery? I’ve recently gone from 50 to 100 mg and have had some days where I feel a bit shaky inside but it’s a difficult feeling to explain.

cafedesreves · 26/01/2021 08:31

@candle18 the first few days I felt a bit physically shaky, a bit unsettled. It only lasted a short time though and now I feel brilliant.

HelenStewart77 · 26/01/2021 09:45

I took my 25mg at bedtime last night and didn't sleep a wink the entire night!!
I took it bedtime the last time I was on it and it made no difference.
Dr advised to take it in the morning 🤦🏻‍♀️

I take mine in the morning and take Promethazine at night to help me sleep. It seems to work!

HelenStewart77 · 27/01/2021 13:55

That's the 2nd bad nights sleep in a row I've had. I normally sleep like a baby so it's very annoying!
Did anyone else have broken sleep and if so how long did it last?
I didn't have this the first time on sertraline 🤷🏻‍♀️

I started taking 25mg a week ago. I take it at bedtime. I can't judge whether it's affecting my sleep as I don't sleep well anyway, but last night I think I slept for 7 hours undisturbed which is a miracle.

I'm still on the verge of tears a lot of the time, but I possibly feel slightly less anxious. I'm not sure if that's the medication or circumstances. I'm going to increase to 50mg at the weekend.

Riser · 27/01/2021 15:40

I've been on it for 2 weeks. I keep getting warm sensation through my chest not sure if this is my anxiety lessening or not. Anyone else had something similar?

Riser · 27/01/2021 15:41

Getting a warm sensation that should read.

I don't have that but I get a sort of rush of cold tingles down my arms and back which feels a bit like anxiety but goes away. Hope you feel better soon x

I'm having a bit of a nightmare here!
This is my 2nd time on it. Side effects not too bad first time around but this time different.
I've had 3 nights of no sleep. It's 6am and I have not slept a wink!
Anyone else had that and how long did it last?! X

Howzaboutye · 28/01/2021 07:49

Gosh that's not good! Definitely change when in the day you take it.
