What physical symptoms has your anxiety caused?

Recently I seem to have experienced feeling shaky and weak, vague tension like headaches, absolute fatigue and also feeling really restless. I’ve also had muscle twitches and really tense muscles - all these things come on after I’ve been feeling particularly anxious. I don’t know if it’s bevause my anxiety is health based anyway but I didn’t realise how much anxiety can affect you physically!

I always feel really fuzzy and mind foggy. I think that's a combination of the anxiety and the insomnia which is delightful. I zone in and out, can't concentrate or focus. I binge eat now too, so I don't feel hungry then will feel starving at around 3am and eat wayyy to much.

ohheyfreakingout · 10/02/2019 01:15

@ravenlg I do the same with eating and then wonder why I feel shaky. I’m the opposite with sleep though I generally feel so worn out from behind on edge or het up with anxiety all day I sleep like a log... but feel exhausted as soon as I wake up!

I've had shaking , fatigue , restless legs , sickness and my whole body aching due to the tenseness of muscles from being anxious

Aberforthsgoat · 10/02/2019 17:10

Shaking, heart racing, feeling sick, dry mouth, constant dull ache in head and stiff tense neck and shoulders, feeling tense all over, feeling really tearful, obsessive intrusive thoughts

Well I think it’s all anxiety anyway Confused

BringItOn88 · 10/02/2019 17:12

Shaking, diarrhoea, nausea, and feeling like I've been run over by a bus

Elephantina · 10/02/2019 17:12

Shortness of breath, perpetual diarrhoea, brain fog and memory loss.

artisanscotcheggs · 10/02/2019 17:13

My psoriasis worsens. Exhaustion. Tension headaches. Gut problems. Light headedness. Vomiting. Shakes.

Aberforthsgoat · 10/02/2019 17:15

@artisanscotcheggs stupid question probably but where do you get your tension headache? Mine always seem to come up from my neck

artisanscotcheggs · 10/02/2019 17:27

@Aberforthsgoat it always at my neck, creeps up over the top of my head; and then settles above my left eye. Every. Single. Time. Nothing will shift it either. I can't always sleep it off either because my pillows feel like rocks.

Aberforthsgoat · 10/02/2019 17:43

@artisanscotcheggs sounds similar to mine but it tends to stay at the back and just linger. I always seem to get them in batches ie most days for a few weeks and then suddenly they just go

tartandreams · 11/02/2019 21:52

Headaches
Nausea
Vomiting
Diarrhoea
Stomach cramps
Inability to sleep

I had a really specific anxiety for a while that made me desperately need the loo every time I was in a situation where I was not going to be access a loo (or not easily) like going to the theatre or long bus journey. And I it wasn't just imaginary needing the loo, once I got to the loo I did go.

Aberforthsgoat · 27/02/2019 09:36

For those who got blurred vision did it come and go or was it persistent?
Mine seems to be very slightly blurry distance wise (don’t need glasses) and sometimes almost seeing spots but not. It’s also been bad when I try to read writing on tv - kind of like the brightness of the text causes it to ghost a bit so I see the top of the letters again ever so slightly. I’ve been told it’s anxiety but I can’t seem to accept it! It seems like such a weirdly specific thing to happen like my eyes aren’t so blurry I can’t read etc
And of course the more I worry about it....

bebeboeuf · 27/02/2019 11:36

My eyesight is terrible with anxiety.
I sometimes can't even face watching tv and stop driving at night.

FemalePersonator · 27/02/2019 12:05

Insomnia, bone-crushing fatigue and knots in my stomach.

Aberforthsgoat · 27/02/2019 13:51

@bebeboeuf I’m the same - watching tv is really hard the images are okay ish but whenever there’s a text logo or text or something it’s almost like slight double vision and then stresses me out even more

Aberforthsgoat · 27/02/2019 22:51

Really struggling with anxiety today :( my eyes are bad and I felt like I was seeing spots earlier and couldn’t stop crying
Sometimes I feel like it will never end and I won’t ever get back to normal :(

littleflybuzz · 28/02/2019 22:39

I have that so bad at the moment! Slightest ‘symptom’ and I am panicking and convincing myself am dying. More anxious I get the worst it is. I’ve had tingly feet and googled it and then convinced myself I have MS. Now every time I have an weird body feeling I feel like am going to have a panic attack when I go down the thought spiral! God anxiety is pants ;-(

Lilythepink3 · 25/03/2019 15:19

Hi, can I ask how long people have these symptoms for? I have been experiencing dizziness, dry mouth, exhaustion , achey legs, tension headache, zero appetite for 5 weeks. I think I was exhausted and either hit a wall or got a virus. I just cant shift the symptoms, undergoing lots of tests which just makes health anxiety way worse when waiting for results.

Anyone been hit with these kind of things for long periods of time? I am off work and really struggling at home. Thanks

lillymunster · 25/03/2019 15:29

OP - what you have described sounds very like anxiety to me.
For me, it included - feeling a wave of heat pass over me like a hot flush, then feeling physically paralysed but restless and desperate to move at the same time, like I was being physically restrained by imaginary hands but also didn't know where I wanted to move to. I felt exhausted like my brain was fried and all I could do was stare into space and didn't have the energy to even pick up my phone to answer it. I had a lot of migraines, bad stomach, feeling shaky, light headed, like I was going to pass out, dry mouth, picking at my skin and fiddling with dry skin. During some bad panic attacks I felt like I couldn't breathe and couldn't sit up properly. I thought it was a physical illness at first - I'd had very bad depression in the past and this was nothing like it so it didn't occur to me that it could be a mental health issue. I managed to get to a psychiatrist who said that I had severe anxiety. What had happened was my STBXH's behaviour was affecting me so badly that the physical symptoms of anxiety came on slowly, bit by bit, appearing like real physical illnesses and it wasn't until I collapsed (when I had a full on nervous breakdown) that anyone got to the bottom of it.
I really hope that you can combat your anxiety OP - it's horrible and there are medications which really can help to bring it under control whilst you get to the bottom of what's causing it.

MythicalBiologicalFennel · 25/03/2019 16:31

Another that is probably not really classed as a physical symptom but it feels it is a sort of floating sensation, I don't really know how else to discribe it but it's unnerving and makes me feel like I'll fall if I try and move.

changing again I have had this a couple of times when my anxiety was at its very worst. I think it's to do with the disordered breathing that anxiety can cause - sometimes I would literally stop breathing and would have to try to calm myself down and remind myself to breathe... in... and out...

Starrr123 · 22/01/2023 20:19

How is everyone ? X

Tastytreats · 29/01/2023 12:14

I also have the specific anxiety that I urgently need the loo when I go somewhere. I have actually had accidents before now due to sheer panic.

I also have TMJ, internal tremors etc.

im going to the GP tomorrow. I was thinking of asking for amitriptyline for both the TMJ and my loose bowels. I’d hope it would help both.

Any experience of this?
