What physical symptoms has your anxiety caused?

Recently I seem to have experienced feeling shaky and weak, vague tension like headaches, absolute fatigue and also feeling really restless. I’ve also had muscle twitches and really tense muscles - all these things come on after I’ve been feeling particularly anxious. I don’t know if it’s bevause my anxiety is health based anyway but I didn’t realise how much anxiety can affect you physically!

Dizziness, internal shakes, heart racing. It’s awful and manages to convince me most times that something is wrong. It never has so far.

Awful isn’t it.

ohheyfreakingout · 08/02/2019 09:54

@pollyhops it really is :(

@ohheyfreakingout I know how you feel mine causes heart palpitations feeling like I can’t catch my breath like I literally will stop breathing blurred vision sometimes feeling like I could faint randomly walking along. Very tight chest

Rosiesmith88 · 08/02/2019 10:33

Chest pains, dizziness, acne, insomnia Confused

ohheyfreakingout · 08/02/2019 10:37

@rosiesmith88 a relative of mine had that from anxiety, so much so
They ended up in a&e thinking they were having a heart attack. nope. anxiety.

@lucy299 it’s so horrible isn’t it especially when you have health anxiety because the physical symptoms make you think something is genuinely wrong.

Nausea and being sick
Complete lack of appetite despite knowing I’m hungry and need to eat
Churning guts/diarrhoea
Sweating
Panic attacks/heart beating too fast

Changingagain · 08/02/2019 10:47

Heart racing, dizziness, blurred vision, nausea, headaches, diarrhea, tingling lips. Another that is probably not really classed as a physical symptom but it feels it is a sort of floating sensation, I don't really know how else to discribe it but it's unnerving and makes me feel like I'll fall if I try and move.
I'm really glad I don't suffer anywhere near as much as I used to as it's awful and the majority of people just don't seem to understand that it's not just being a little bit worried and over dramatic.
I hope you find something that helps soon.

Lucy299 · 08/02/2019 15:30

@oheyfreakingout yes it’s Awful I also have health anxiety aswell kinda went away for a while but has recently been triggered by an abormal smear result back in full force !

ohheyfreakingout · 08/02/2019 16:14

@lucy299 I had an absolute meltdown when I bled during a smear last year so Although not the same I know the horrible cycle it facilitates.
I feel ill today - weird pressure in my head and kind of off balance, shaky and tired despite having a good night’s sleep. problem is I can no longer see anything as just a cold coming it’s always got to be a symptom of something Awful.
And of course all these symptoms could be anxiety.

Lucy299 · 08/02/2019 17:08

@ohheyfreakingout well I actually got the all clear when I went for further checks but obviously that isn’t good enough for the likes of me ! And I have been googling like mad !.

When I used to get a cold I would think it’s something else too but I’m okay with that kinda of stuff now ! But it is awful nobody really knows what it’s like unless you have it

wishuponarainbow · 08/02/2019 22:20

I've been experiencing really heavy joints, tingling in arms and head and total loss of appetite. Although if I do eat I realise I was actually hungry despite not feeling it?
And awful insomnia, wake up after a couple of hours with mind going crazy.
Anxiety is awful.

serialtester · 08/02/2019 23:30

Tingling, visual issues, hands locking, palpitations, tremor, nausea...

ohheyfreakingout · 08/02/2019 23:37

It really is @wishuponarainbow I never really understood it until I experienced it

What visual issues did you experience @serialtester ? I’ve been referred for an issue but the optician said she thought it could be stress

serialtester · 09/02/2019 00:41

It sounds stupid but my vision either "going dark" or like tunnel vision.

PRoseLegend · 09/02/2019 00:45

Racing heart, palpitations, shakiness, sweating, dry mouth.
I also get fatigue, muscle pain from my muscles being tense all the time, and headaches.
Occasionally I get stomach cramping too.
I have also experienced numbness and tingling in my face and limbs, which is apparently anxiety as well.

Ifonlybatshadhats · 09/02/2019 01:15

Op, I have had all the symptoms you've described for the last 3 weeks. I'm putting it down to SAD. I've suffered with anxiety and depression for the last 2.5 years since ds2 was born but it's always been worst late Jan & early Feb. Every day I have head fog and I can't wake my brain up properly til about 1pm (not easy as a stay at home mum trying to engage with a toddler!). I have started getting twitchy eyes and facial muscles in the last couple of weeks and an intense headache most days since early Jan.
November 2017 to March 2018 was the worst for me as I had absolute insomnia then. I went for 1:1 guided meditation sessions and that helped immeasurably.
For the head fog and lethargy I've started taking vit b complex and vit d as well as ginko, ginseng and guarva tablets; they at least wake my brain up a bit but don't clear the fog completely.

whitehorsesdonotlie · 09/02/2019 01:17

Heart palpitations
Nausea
Racing heart
Diarrhoea
Stomach pains
Shakiness
Inability to sleep

JuniperBeer · 09/02/2019 01:28

All of the above

Nausea
Lack of appetite
diarrhoea
I get physically twitchy and worried about simple things. Like if Pret run out of the sandwich I wanted. I panic and can’t choose another one.
I tap my fingers together slightly too when I’m really anxious.
Jaw pain from clenching. Sore teeth from grinding.
Tired dry eyes.

Dollsandfoo · 09/02/2019 11:24

I have had pretty much all of the above at some point. X

Stormy76 · 09/02/2019 11:33

Grinding or clenching my teeth, headaches and migraines
Sore and tense back and shoulder muscles
Tiredness, sometimes it’s so bad I could fall asleep standing up.
Palpitations, I feel them in my throat and sometimes they are so strong it scares me.
IBS flares.
Sweating, I sweat horrendously and the more I notice it the worse it gets.
Sweaty palms,
Agitation and irritable
Jerky movements
Poor concentration

ohheyfreakingout · 09/02/2019 18:05

Has anyone ever experienced dizziness or feeling off balance?

OP posts:
Dollsandfoo · 09/02/2019 19:12

Yes I have . When I was really bad at the end of November I actually took myself off to hospital because of the dizziness and being of balance I was so convinced it was some thing really bad x

cardibach · 09/02/2019 19:26

I’ve just hit the crisis Monet of going to the go and getting signed off - workplace stress, but making me very anxious. Or maybe the other way round.
I have all your symptoms OP. Also insomnia (no sleep at all one night recently), stomach cramps and irritability.

cardibach · 09/02/2019 19:27

Crisi point*
Also, yes, the post I’ve just seen - dizziness and lack of balance.

ohheyfreakingout · 09/02/2019 19:32

It’s awful that you’ve all experienced it but I feel a little relieved that it’s not just me :( I keep thinking it must be something serious /neurological because surely anxiety can’t make you feel like this!
But I also think it might be a touch of that virus that’s doing the rounds and my anxiety is making it worse

Hope you get to rest up @cardibach
