Recently I seem to have experienced feeling shaky and weak, vague tension like headaches, absolute fatigue and also feeling really restless. I’ve also had muscle twitches and really tense muscles - all these things come on after I’ve been feeling particularly anxious. I don’t know if it’s bevause my anxiety is health based anyway but I didn’t realise how much anxiety can affect you physically!

www.nomorepanic.com has a symptoms page which is quite a handy reference when you're having anxiety symptoms.

Lkbbdg · 09/02/2019 19:39

nearly all of these except the acne

Auldspinster · 09/02/2019 19:40

Oops that should be www.nomorepanic.co.uk

ohheyfreakingout · 09/02/2019 19:48

Thanks @auldspinster I’ve got the majority of those at the moment :( but kind of reassuring to see them listed there, even thought processes and eye issues

I've had most of these over the years and yes anxiety can cause physical symptoms. I'm an old woman now and I've learned to do the deep breathing, talking out loud stuff. I pretty look like an idiot but it makes me feel better
The virus you mentioned that you may have. Possibly get checked out by the Doctor for an inner ear infection, I had one many years ago and it was really scary, it felt like the whole world was moving. I have had the cold that's been around and have had the swimming head sensation, my Dr said it's my sinuses and she's right. So for me that's been salt water nasal rinses, uurgh, head over a Bowl with boiling water and Vick.
One other thing, if you are able, stay away from googling your symptoms. Dr google is not your friend
I hope you feel better soon

findingmyfeet12 · 09/02/2019 19:52

I've had severe dermatitis, eye twitching and hair falling out.

The eye twitch has actually resulted in one of my eyes seeming to shrink.

WeAreGerbil · 09/02/2019 19:56

Muscle twitches, including fingers moving from side to side by themselves, really freaky. Palpitations, TMJ, weird neurological sensations, e.g. tingling.

cardibach · 09/02/2019 19:58

Thanks ohhey.
I feel much better for getting affirmation from the doc and time to breathe.

Keepit · 09/02/2019 20:05

Nausea, trembling hands, palpitations, chest pain, sweating, chills, light headedness, seeing spots, blurry vision, extreme tiredness, muscle aches, all over body burning, hives, lump in throat, shortness of breath, stomach problems, headaches, insomnia, restless legs, muscle cramps, feeling spaced out and disengaging with my surroundings, being hyper alert and hearing everything , teeth grinding, jaw pain.... there is probably more! I have a long history of depression and anxiety, all physical symptoms have been put down to anxiety by gps. Life this way is hard

Frlrlrubert · 09/02/2019 20:17

My latest episode was initially diagnosed as labyrinthitis - dizziness, vertigo, nausea, vomiting.

It was only when I realised that tiny noises were giving me huge adrenalin surges (my toddler coughing in the night would have me on high alert like being terrified) that I connected the dots.

I'm on sertaline now (day 21) and although initially worse (days 10-15 were bad) I feel much less 'over alert' now and no more labyrinthitis symptoms.

Previously I've had it present as stress-tension headaches.

I also get ibs/nausea symptoms at certain times of the month. I'm wondering if this is also linked as obviously hormones play a role.

anxiousbundle · 09/02/2019 20:23

Bad shakes/shivers (like you get when you have flu!)
Nausea and stomach pain
Actual vomiting (from panic attacks)
Achy/restless legs
Extreme fatigue
Racing heart beat
Pale/ill looking

anxiousbundle · 09/02/2019 20:24

Oh yeah, diarrhoea and sweating too!

Lucky11111 · 09/02/2019 21:03

Hi,

Ex-paramedic here.

I wrote about this on another thread : called "deep breathing doesn't WORK". I think it's about the 7th reply.

Can someone at Mumsnet copy it over to this thread please?

Only it took ages to type!
X

It’s so horrible isn’t it. I hate the way I seem to fixate on a horrible diagnosis and then everything seems to fit.
I feel like a shadow of myself :(

Thanks for the advice @stardustinmyeyes I think I could have as my lymph node is up behind one ear and my ears feel kind of sore and full and just weirdly pressure-y. I’ve been really worried it’s linked to my eye issue but am trying to be calm as I know my eye issue has been referred as “routine” and anything serious would have been flagged

Thanks @lkbbdg

@ohheyfreakingout

I understand the pressure-y thing it's shit and makes you feel as though there is something seriously wrong. As your eye issue has been referred to as routine then that's a help.
I was amazed when I realised just how much our ears, noses and throats are linked. Ok I know it's ENT but I just hadn't joined the dots iyswim. Also try and make sure you drink plenty of water, not stupid amounts but if your eyes and ears are dry then water can help.
I haven't read the breathing post but I know it doesn't work for me. I find stomping around and shouting loudly, it's ok you're going to be fine. Vigorous exercise and bellowing works for me. Tbh I don't care how I look to others now. Fuck em I have to deal with me.
You will find your solution eventually. Wishing you well

Wintermonster · 09/02/2019 21:55

Chest pains.
Itchy head
Bad sleep
Hunger
Lack of presence in my surroundings

Lucky11111 · 09/02/2019 22:19

Thank you lkbbdg

WaitrosePigeon · 09/02/2019 22:20

Diarrhoea and tiredness

mineofuselessinformation · 09/02/2019 22:23

Extreme dizziness, feeling exhausted, feeling disconnected, feeling 'squashed down' if that makes sense.
Knowing that when I interact with other people I don't always act as I usually would.
Heart palpitations here and there, racing heart, or a very suppressed heart rate which makes me feel terrible.
Loose bowels and stomach cramps. Swallowing too much air and then coughing and fetching because of the trapped air in my stomach - it makes me produce lots of saliva which I daren't swallow because that makes it worse, and makes my eyes stream.
Almost permanent shaking.
Lack of concentration and poor short term memory.
I have had my dosage of anti-ds increased which has really helped thank goodness.

mineofuselessinformation · 09/02/2019 22:24

I forgot, and my joints are the worst they have ever been (arthritis), and my skin on my face is dreadful (scale like patches which are really thick and make my face feel like sandpaper). I'm sure it's all connected with how I'm feeling.

CallMeRachel · 09/02/2019 22:42

For me it can be;

Headaches
Blurred vision
Poor memory
Hand trembling
Rapid heartbeat
Palpitations
Visual flashes of being on a cliff edge and the feeling of falling
Insomnia
Paranoid thoughts
Fear of the worst all the time
Skin rashes
Acne
Symmetrical worry warts
IBS symptoms
TMJ (jaw / ear pain ) caused by tension
Teeth grinding

Yay lucky me!! Confused

ohheyfreakingout · 10/02/2019 00:21

@stardustinmyeyes your post really made me laugh because depending on what mood I’m in I have to do the same - sometimes the breathing and in the now works for me but I never do it calmly it’s always accompanied by loud “you’re fine, you’re here you’re breathing” stomp stomp stomp. And I live in a flat. Poor downstairs neighbours. Unfortunately my optician didn’t communicate to me that the referral
Was routine so it triggered my anxiety and I’ve been in a bad way since. even though I KNOW it routine now the anxiety brainworm hasn’t let up. I’m really hoping it’s something easily remedied as that will help calm it until the next fixation.

@callmerach your list is as long as mine! Does your blurred vision come and go or do you go through phases of having it consistently? Even if my eye issue isn’t stress I had NO idea just how much anxiety can affect the body until my therapist explained the biological effects.

Sucks to be suffering but it does help to know you’re not alone

@mineofuselessinformation I know exactly what you mean by squashed down
