Venafalaxine withdrawal

Been on VF since January - can't eat, barely functioning and after discussion with my GP coming off it.

I want to use this thread just to vent, to remind myself there was someone there before anxiety took over my life several years ago and to convince myself that I will be ok and DH will get his wife back again.

I've recently left a massively stressful job and I'm studying from September - I've just had another chat with a lovely Mum at nursery drop off and realised I haven't regretted this change for a minute!

Feel free to join in if you're weaning off too.

Today: probably a 6/10 but the sun is shining and I have nice plans - for me. Self care is the new medicating in our house.

I took myself off this (Effexor, right?) in the middle of 2016. The withdrawals were similar to the feeling of getting on it - spacey, headaches etc

I didn't taper off which of course made it harder. But eventually I was able to get on with my day and function again and my old feelings and reactions resurfaced again

Back on the merry go round as I've been struggling, on a different one now

I think the very last of my withdrawal symptoms are pretty much gone now. I used to get them worst in the morning, and particularly when drinking water, but now it's not there at all. Given I started withdrawal on about the 14th April down from 75mg XR, and had my last crumb 28th April, that's nearly two months. I'd say I was free of it now!

I do have new issues with anxiety, but I think that is related to the Elvanse I am taking for ADHD (inattentive) as it only happens for a few hours at the same time each day and it is a known side-effect. Perhaps the Venlafaxine masked it before. It's a price worth paying to be off the Venlafaxine though! It is worse if I haven't eaten enough/had enough sleep/certain time of month so combine that with the knowledge it's just a side-effect and it's dealable with. Not nice though!

Things are settling a bit with the shit-hitting-the-fan stuff going on thankfully, although that doesn't negate the stress involved; mostly child-care related! I still feel lonely, but I am meeting a friend for dinner this week which is probably my first social outing in a squillion years!

Well done Shattered04

I am slowly getting my head around how flat I have been - met a friend for lunch this week and she was concerned I was a bit manic sometimes I am more than a bit

I suppose it's adjusting to normality - I feel almost teenage hormonally irrational at times, but as you say it's worth it.

Sleep is a big driver for me - as is keeping my blood sugar up. I'm very shaky if I haven't eaten or drunk enough not wine

Have a lovely night with your friend - meeting friends is like a wee therapy session for me right now.

My friend I met on Monday has been treated appallingly by someone she has knocked her pan in for and being able to give some advice rather than needing to take it (for once) was a bit of a boost for me.

She will be fine, I am 100% sure. fuck the bastards and is getting out of a quite frankly toxic situation.

DD's school visit and last day of nursery to get through this week though. EEEEEEEK.

Are you intending to try another med op are you going to stay on nothing for a while? X

Sorry to tap into this late on but just wondered if any of you have taken anything to combat the hideously excessive sweating whilst on ven? X
